Activities at Hunters Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Ben Sandall

Activities Coordinator

Hello I am Ben and I am the Activities Coordinator at Hunters.  I started working at Hunters as part of the hospitality team, but when a vacancy came up on the activities team I jumped at the opportunity.  I have seen how important a varied activities programme is and the team ensure we offer something for everyone including regular past times.

Long Service Awards

Long Service Awards

At Hunters, we recently celebrated the long service achievements of three of our valued members of staff. Rene Quijana and Maria Shelton, both carers on our Memory Lane Unit, celebrated ten years of service; and Martin Collis, one of our gardeners, reached the milestone of twenty years of service. Congratulations and thank you for all of your hard work and dedication. Pictured is Martin receiving his award from Head of Maintenance, Simon Hitchings, and Renee receiving his award from Head of Memory Lane, Brendan Gillett.

Smooth Swinging at Hunters

Smooth Swinging at Hunters

Neil Patterson provided residents with an afternoon of swing, jazz and blues, calling back to Frank Sinatra and The Rat Pack. Everyone joined in with and reminisced over the old classics, which never seem to age.

Employee of the Month - August

Employee of the Month - August

Hunter's Employee of the Month for August is Sam Whyte, who is Head Chef and Head of Housekeeping. Sam is always cheerful and hardworking with a can-do attitude, and is always on hand to provide support and guidance to her colleagues and to the residents. Well done, Sam!

Hunter's Piano Players

Hunter's Piano Players

Pianist, Kieron Pocock, provided an afternoon of musical entertainment for the residents on our General Unit and Memory Lane. Kieron played a variety of songs from show tunes, traditional music hall and classical, much to the delight of the residents who joined in with a good old fashioned sing along.

The Olympic Spirit

The Olympic Spirit

We celebrated the Olympics by hosting out own mini games; several events were fiercely contested, and residents were presented with gold, silver and bronze medals. The afternoon was made even more special when a relative brought two of the actual Olympic Relay Torches from the 2012 games.

Scrabble Club

Scrabble Club

At Hunters, residents enjoy the weekly Scrabble Club. It gives them the opportunity to get together in small relaxed groups in a quiet environment where the games are always played in a keen and competitive nature.
