Activities at Hunters Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Ben Sandall

Activities Coordinator

Hello I am Ben and I am the Activities Coordinator at Hunters.  I started working at Hunters as part of the hospitality team, but when a vacancy came up on the activities team I jumped at the opportunity.  I have seen how important a varied activities programme is and the team ensure we offer something for everyone including regular past times.

Life at Hunters Care Home

International Nurses' Day

International Nurses' Day

We celebrated International Nurses' Day by gifting our valued and often unsung colleagues some chocolates. So, a big thank you to all of our lovely Nurses for your hard work, care and commitment.

The Feeding of the Lamb

Hunters team member, Helen Hanks, added a touch of spring warmth to the home by bringing in a lamb from her father's flock. Residents' faces lit up when they were able to bottle feed it and give it a cuddle.

Birds of Prey

Birds of Prey

Residents at Hunters were treated to a visit by Clare from Walks with Hawks. Clare brought along an American kestrel called Archie, a spectacled owl named Biggles and a small burrowing owl known as the Mighty Thor.

Elsie's Birthday

Elsie's Birthday

We celebrated a very special Birthday here at Hunters recently; the lovely Elsie turned 107. She was joined by her family, other residents and the volunteers from Mind Song for a party where everyone enjoyed a singalong, which was followed by sherry, bubbly and cake.

Mind Song

Mind Song

We recently had a visit from the Mind Song singing group here at Hunters. Mind Song is a charity made up of local volunteers who provide homes with music therapy and entertainment.

Pancake Day

Pancake Day

At Hunters, we celebrated Pancake Day with our annual pancake flipping competition. Afterwards, residents had a choice of banana, raspberry, chocolate, honey, marshmallows or lemon and sugar to make their ideal pancake. As always, the traditional lemon and sugar came out as the favourite filling.
