Activities at Hunters Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Ben Sandall

Activities Coordinator

Hello I am Ben and I am the Activities Coordinator at Hunters.  I started working at Hunters as part of the hospitality team, but when a vacancy came up on the activities team I jumped at the opportunity.  I have seen how important a varied activities programme is and the team ensure we offer something for everyone including regular past times.

Barchy's Adventure Begins

Barchy's Adventure Begins

Barchy Bear started his adventure at Hunters recently; he will be travelling around with staff and relatives, going on holiday and having his photo taken in as many exotic locations as possible. Barchy will be raising money to buy new iPads for the residents.

Baking at Hunters

Baking at Hunters

Residents at Hunters spent the afternoon with Michelle from the activities team baking, making chocolate coated marshmallows to sell at our summer fete.

Summer Fête

We held our annual Summer Fête and Classic Car Show recently. The sun continued to shine and residents, relatives, staff and members of the local community had a fun day of entertainment, with a BBQ, ice creams, classic cars, live music from Uke Box Jury and various other stalls that were manned by staff and residents.

At the end of the day, the home had raised just under £700 for local charity, Mind Song, who provide music therapy for people living with dementia.

The Magic Table

The Magic Table

Residents on Memory Lane took part in an interactive demonstration with the magic table. The table is designed for people in mid to late stage dementia, providing emotional, physical and social stimulation. The demonstration was fantastic and it was obvious that the residents benefited from the experience. Staff at Hunters will now work towards having a table in the home on a permanent basis.
