Activities at Hunters Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Ben Sandall

Activities Coordinator

Hello I am Ben and I am the Activities Coordinator at Hunters.  I started working at Hunters as part of the hospitality team, but when a vacancy came up on the activities team I jumped at the opportunity.  I have seen how important a varied activities programme is and the team ensure we offer something for everyone including regular past times.

Life at Hunters Care Home

Poppy Display

Poppy Display

We hosted a themed arts & crafts session here at Hunters to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of World War One. To go with the poppies, two very poignant poems were chosen to be displayed: 'My Boy Jack' by Rudyard Kipling and 'In Flanders Fields' by John McCrae.

Poppy Day

Poppy Day

This month at Hunters, leading up to Remembrance Sunday, we will be selling handmade poppies to raise money for the Royal British Legion. The poppies were made by one of our nurses, Jane Smith, with the help of the residents.

Animal House

Animal House

We welcomed Animal Mania back into Hunters. Residents were given an educational talk on the animals and had the chance to get up close and hold some of the exotic creatures – even a giant millipede!

,

Wool Spinning

At Hunters we recently had a demonstration and talk on the ancient art of wool spinning, Anne Perkins came in and spent the afternoon with everyone showing her skills. Anne is the daughter of one of our Residents which made the afternoon more special as we especially enjoy the involvement of family and friends.

,

Harvest Festival

We hosted our annual Harvest Festival service recently; every year, we make a collection to donate to Cirencester Food Bank. We were also joined by Don, the vicar from our local parish.

Music for the Soul

Music for the Soul

We welcomed back Neil Patterson, who entertained residents with an afternoon of jazz and soul.
