Activities at Hunters Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Ben Sandall
Hello I am Ben and I am the Activities Coordinator at Hunters. I started working at Hunters as part of the hospitality team, but when a vacancy came up on the activities team I jumped at the opportunity. I have seen how important a varied activities programme is and the team ensure we offer something for everyone including regular past times.

Life at Hunters Care Home
Ukulele Entertainment
Mathew Sproston made a welcome return to Hunters with an afternoon of ukulele entertainment. Mathew treated residents to an afternoon of music hall and old time hits.
Summer Fête Donation
We hosted our annual Summer Fête & Classic Car Show in July, with attractions that included Fairford Classic Car Club, live music from ukulele band, Uke Box Jury, and various stalls, in addition to a BBQ.
On the day, the home managed to raise just under £700 for charity. Every year, the home chooses a different local charity to benefit from the proceeds of the day. This year, the chosen charity was Mindsong, a local group that visits care homes in Gloucestershire, providing music therapy and engagement for elderly people with dementia.
Pictured is Activities Coordinator, Steve Chamberlain, presenting the cheque to Kate Hicks, Deputy Volunteer Manger, with the rest of the Mindsong team.
Open Day
We hosted a '60s-themed open day here at Hunters recently. The entertainment was provided by Steve and Sheila, who really got into the spirit of things with colourful fancy dress.
For the Love of Music
We welcomed back country and folk singer, Andy Yapp, who entertained the residents on General and Memory Lane with songs from Johnny Cash and Hank Williams.
