Activities at Hilderstone Hall Care Home

Our activities team are, first and foremost, devoted to each and every resident in the home, and strive to ensure that their interests, hobbies, capabilities and individual requests are met to the highest standard. This could include one-to-one chats, hand massages, reading, music therapy, flower arranging, movement to music, arts & crafts, gardening and baking. We also have regular fun, adventurous and stimulating trips, where we encourage families and loved ones to join us. We have close links with the Alzheimer's Society, the local primary school, and Trinity Skills who come to sing with residents. All the staff at Hilderstone Hall participate in activities with residents, offering encouragement, stimulation and interaction for everyone involved, providing the most fulfilling experience possible.

Life at Hilderstone Hall Care Home

Mad Hatter's Tea Party

Mad Hatter's Tea Party

Residents and staff dressed up and enjoyed a fun-filled day with cakes, drinks and games.

Norman volunteered to be our Mad Hatter for the day, hence the wonderful orange wig. Nicky, our General Manager, became Alice and looked wonderful, as did everyone.

Elf Day

Elf Day

On Friday 8th December, we all dressed up as elves and even Resident Ambassador, Norman Perry, got involved! We had a parade and games, followed by a singalong and a prize for the best outfit. Families and friends joined in and we raised money for the Alzheimer's Society.

Children in Need 2017

We at Hilderstone Hall had a fantastic day raising money for Children in Need. We started our day with some residents and staff wearing their pyjamas and donating £1 to the great cause. A few of us then went for lunch and Christmas shopping at Bridgemere Garden Centre and, of course, Pudsey came along with us to join in with the festivities. As you can see, we all had a great time!

Remembrance Sunday

Remembrance Sunday

Our local primary school in Fulford made some wonderful poppies for residents to hang on our dignity tree. They wrote their own little messages on the back of each and we then displayed them in our main lounge for everyone to see. We also made our own poppy wreath to hang in reception. We also all wore our poppies with pride as we watched the Remembrance Service on the Sunday.

Amerton Farm

We visited Amerton Farm on a day out and the ladies enjoyed a lovely homemade shepherd’s pie in the beautiful Barn Café. We then went around the craft centre to have a look at the Christmas gifts; following that, we went to spend time with the animals and, of course, had to have an ice cream. We sat and enjoyed the winter sun whilst indulging in our treats before returning to the home. Everyone had a lovely time!

Barchester's 25th Anniversary

We had a great day with celebrations well into the evening. Residents, family members and friends attended, along with our entertainer, who sang songs by Elvis Presley, Tom Jones, and many others.
