Activities at Hilderstone Hall Care Home
Our activities team are, first and foremost, devoted to each and every resident in the home, and strive to ensure that their interests, hobbies, capabilities and individual requests are met to the highest standard. This could include one-to-one chats, hand massages, reading, music therapy, flower arranging, movement to music, arts & crafts, gardening and baking. We also have regular fun, adventurous and stimulating trips, where we encourage families and loved ones to join us. We have close links with the Alzheimer's Society, the local primary school, and Trinity Skills who come to sing with residents. All the staff at Hilderstone Hall participate in activities with residents, offering encouragement, stimulation and interaction for everyone involved, providing the most fulfilling experience possible.

Life at Hilderstone Hall Care Home
A live cooking demonstration with Chef
We had a lovely time joining Chef Alex Connell from Vegetarian for Life for a Halloween-inspired virtual cooking demo. Alex demonstrated how to prepare a few themed dishes, such as root vegetable tagine, roasted butternut squash mac-n-cheese, chocolate pots with piped biscuits and flapjacks. Our residents were delighted to be a part of this lovely virtual culinary session by tasting the vegetarian dishes from the comfort of our home
Clinical lead nurse raises monies for charity
Divisional Clinical Lead Nurse at Hilderstone Hall put the ‘fun’ into ‘fundraising’ with a charity trek to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society on Trek26 2021.
Tracy Elmer, Divisional Clinical Lead Nurse graduated in 1999 as a Registered General Nurse from Birmingham University. Tracy embarked on the epic 26 mile trek from Penrith in August and raised a grand total of £665.00 for the charity she is very passionate about and which is very dear to her heart.
Anna Paule, Operations Manager at Hilderstone Hall said: “Everyone at Barchester North Division and at Hilderstone Hall care home was keen to show Tracy support on her Trek, especially the residents who enjoyed hearing all about the experience. Trek26 is a great cause that helps many people living with Alzheimer’s which is a cause very close to the hearts of all our staff and residents. We are really proud of Tracy who completed the Trek in an impressive time of just 9 hours and 10 minutes and of course, to have been able to raise this money. Thank you to everyone who donated!”
Creative writing
We had a great time joining journalist and novelist, Mike Gayle, for an intriguing virtual interview, during which he shared top tips for creative writing with our residents and read passages from his latest book, All the Lonely People.
We were thrilled to find out about Mike’s background, to understand what led him to become a writer and his creative process.
It was a lovely talk, enjoyed by all, especially by our keen writers at the home.
