Activities at Henford House Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual activities for anyone and everyone to participate in, as well as visits from PAT dogs, musicians and entertainers. We also host evenings such as our cheese & wine nights, pub evening, quiz nights and special occasions such as, Guy Fawkes, Easter and Christmas where we like to encourage relatives to come to. Activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, so it is essential that our team are dedicated to ensuring that residents are entertained, and that life at Henford House is fun and active.

Debbie Phillips

Activities Coordinator

I joined Henford House in March 2014; after five and a half years of domiciliary care, this position became available at Henford and I decided that it would be great to do more of the fun things in life with residents! It is great here at the home; we get along so well and truly have some laughs. Residents have a wide range of activities to participate in each week, including armchair exercises, bingo sessions, singalongs, musical entertainment, pottery, manicures, celebrations and much more. It is very rewarding knowing that people are grateful for the work I've done when I go. Working here has also given me the opportunity to gain my Level 2 NAPA certificate.

Macmillan Coffee Morning

Macmillan Coffee Morning

Residents, relatives, staff and friends had a lovely morning fundraising during our Macmillan Coffee Morning. Everyone enjoyed some live entertainment, with Bruce and Al on their guitars. We were very lucky to have such generous donations and managed to raise £88.50 in total for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Letter from the Queen

Letter from the Queen

We sent a birthday card to the Queen back in April on behalf of all the staff and residents at Henford - and very recently received a reply! It's fair to say that we were chuffed.

Strawberry Tea Party

Strawberry Tea Party

Henford House held a Strawberry Tea Party in aid of Breast Cancer and raised a total of £103.50. Residents and their families enjoyed music from Jim Gallagher whilst indulging in some lovely cream tea.

Oh I Do like to Be Beside the Seaside

Oh I Do like to Be Beside the Seaside

Henford House residents had glorious sunshine for their annual garden party. This year's theme was 'at the seaside'.

The afternoon began with Warminster Brass Band playing whilst everyone enjoyed a glass of Pimm's, had some cream tea and indulged in fish & chips.

All the children were happy, splashing around in the mini paddling pools and making their sand castles in the sand pits after having their faces painted.

Magic Moments joined us with their miniature pony, Bam-Bam, and brought a pen of guinea pigs, which the kids particularly enjoyed.

The fun really started when Punch & Judy appeared; it made the theme of being at the seaside feel very authentic. Professor Paul performed 2 wonderful shows, which were enjoyed by all.

General Manager, Lynne Leather, announced that Nigel and Wendy Linge had very generously donated a beautiful pergola for the garden at Henford House, in memory of Wendy's parents, David and Ethel, who were residents at Henford. Wendy and Nigel declared the pergola open and enjoyed a nice glass of wine.

The garden party was a huge success; everyone worked very hard and our proceeds are going to Louie's S.M.I.L.E.S charity.

Celebrations at Henford

Celebrations at Henford

Residents at Henford enjoy celebration royal birthdays; besides the Queen's 90th birthday they also had a party for the Duke of Edinburgh's 95th.

The ladies had their own sparkly tiaras and each resident had a special royal chocolate bar that was provided by The Chocoholic Company to mark this special occasion.

A traditional street-style party with flags, Pimm's, sandwiches, Victoria sponge cake and cheese straws were enjoyed by all. A good ol' sing-song with Sophie on the piano and accordion completed the fun afternoon.

Tropical Discovery at Henford House

Tropical Discovery at Henford House

On Tuesday 12th April, Henford received a special visit from some giant bugs and reptiles. Everyone enjoyed this even more than we thought and have even asked for them to visit again.
