Activities at Harper Fields Care Home

There is always something to do here at Harper Fields and always someone to assist the residents in any activity they wish to take part in. We have entertainers come into the home to sing and play instruments on a weekly basis, as well as visits from PAT dogs, hairdressers, massage therapists and nail technicians to pamper those who live here. Residents' spiritual needs are taken into account at Harper Fields; we have regular services from the Catholic and Methodist church, in addition to the Church of England, and for our non-religious residents, we have a weekly calming and peaceful ‘mindfulness and meditation group,’ which is very popular, especially for those living with dementia. Residents often like to attend cinema evenings to watch their favourite films on the big screen (complete with sweets and popcorn), or develop new skills at our computer classes, where they can learn how to Skype their families in other countries. Our activities are tailored to suit the individual interests and capabilities of residents and our specialised equipment enables those we support to enjoy everything we have to offer.

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life at Harper Fields Care Home

Virtual Cruise, Cookery Demonstration & Tasting Event

We enjoyed a virtual cruise with a live, interactive cookery demo.  Our head chef prepared the same recipes as the demo so we could try all the dishes. As the 'cruise' pulled into each port, we were given clues to identify where we were visiting and then tasted a typical dish from that country...bellissimo!

Do What I Want Sunday!

On our ‘do what I want’ Sunday' we were lucky enough to experience a day of Indian Summer, residents relaxed with an art therapy session in the fresh air.   We made the most of the wonderful sunshine achieving more time towards our 100 hours outside challenge.

Feeding The Local Wildlife

Residents are looking after the Birds of Balsall Common.  We enjoy seeing the birds and wildlife at our feeders especially the naughty squirrels with their antics and the various beautiful birds that visit us.  We made peanut-butter bird treats & birdseed fat balls.

Wine Tasting & Cheese Pairing Event

We tasted a delicious selection of red, white & rose wines, we also tried a delicious crisp Prosecco.  We had a guest speaker via zoom teaching us the origin of the wines which was very informative.  Our dining team served a selection of cheeses that paired perfectly with the wines.

Harper Bear Shares his Hugs

Harper Bear introduced himself to everyone, he can be a little bit cheeky and is very happy to share his love and hugs.  Invitations will be sent out soon for our ‘Teddy bears picnic’ social event with Harper Bear.

The Seaside comes to Harper Fields!

We had the pleasure of ‘Spiltmilk’ Seaside show. We enjoyed singing, dancing, beach games & an assortment of deliciously flavoured ice-cream cones, strawberry & cream, curly wurly , rum & raisin, lemon sorbet, Ferraro rocher & creamy vanilla.
