Activities at Glebefields Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Flower Arranging Masterclass

Our residents have been treated to an interactive floristry masterclass courtesy of Kay our newly appointed Activities Coordinator.

During her extensive 12 years’ experience working within the care industry, Kay found time to set up her own mail-order dry flower floristry business. Today, she used her skills to demonstrate how anyone can create a floral masterpiece!

Kay explained step by step how she’d prepared the items, from pre-cut flowers to bushes and oasis filled terracotta pots. Each resident enjoyed choosing from an array of flowers and foliage. From Glebefields garden foraged greenery, to bright and fragrant, lavender, chrysanthemum and carnations.

One by one our residents started to select and build they potted creations. Only stopping briefly for a sip of tea and a biscuit!

Each were thrilled to see their individual creations come alive.

Kay looks forward to using more of her crafting skills to develop a varied and life enriching programme, that keeps our residents active; physically, mentally and socially.

Fiesta Fortnight Balloon Fun

In celebration of Fiesta Fortnight, from Monday 2nd August to Sunday 15th August 2021, the residents of Glebefields care home in Banbury enjoyed a wonderful craft work session.

Listening to the history of this event and the development of hot air balloons, and balloons in general learning about their different uses throughout the ages.

The ‘Fiesta Fortnight’ sees hundreds of hot air balloons taking off from multiple locations across Bristol and filling the sky with not only classic hot air balloons, but some special shapes and characters including Stuart the Minion! Our residents’ artistic creations are now 'flying high' on display for all to enjoy.

Well done Paul, what an achievement, completing a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle in less than 3 weeks! There’s nothing more satisfying than popping in that last piece. Onto the next challenge... this time a 500 piece puzzle, let’s see how long it takes you to complete?

Paul loves to relax in the drawing room, with a little light music in the background and his puzzles, if you fancy a short relaxing break, we're currently offering 3 weeks for 2 on respite stays.

'Thank You' From Glebefields

Here at Glebefields Care Home, we put together a beautiful rainbow thank you banner in honour of all the NHS, key workers and all who cared for us and supported the community during the past year and always.

Our thank you banner is displayed near a busy Banbury junction, in front of a local shop (Dhwanee Supermarkets), in the aim to brighten up everyone’s day and to spread joy and positivism into the community.

A big THANK YOU from all team members and residents at Glebefields Care Home. Keep smiling everyone.
