Activities at Glebefields Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Afternoon Tea
Our residents are loving the new home environment, there's nothing more special than gathering together for afternoon tea in the lounge and dining hall, to enjoy freshly made finger sandwiches and cakes.
Ground Floor Design Magic
Our WOW refurbishment project is nearly complete. We took a sneak peek around the ground floor yesterday to watch the Barchester Interior Design team at work. It’s all very exciting and looking amazing!
St David's Day and Pancakes
Celebrations to mark St David’s Day in acknowledgement of the patron saint of Wales went well yesterday. In line with Welsh traditions, we decorated our home with flags and daffodils.
As the 1st March also falls on Shrove Tuesday (Pancake Day) Chef prepared a superb lunch full of Welsh themed dishes, and flipped homemade pancakes for our afternoon tea.
Our residents had fun decorating with fresh fruit, lemon juice or syrup and of course chocolate! It’s safe to say they went down a treat!
Virtual Coffee Cocktail Making
Did you know that NESCAFÉ was created in 1938?
Ever since the brand has been at the heart of the nation’s homes. Being the biggest coffee distributor in the world, they know a thing or two about coffee!
Yesterday our residents were treated to LIVE coffee masterclass courtesy of Catherine Woodruff and Paul Vernon from Nescafé.
There was an interactive quiz where residents put their coffee knowledge to the test before Catherine and Paul demonstrated how to make some delicious coffee cocktails. We followed their instructions and got to enjoy our own coffee cocktail creation; Sweet Cinnamon Shaken Iced Coffee.
Celebrating London Fashion Week
Here at Glebefields care home we marked London’s Fashion Week in style.
We looked through fashion magazines and learnt more about the Swinging Sixties, typified by Mary Quant, Ossie Clark and Bárbara Hulanicki, through to Vivienne Westwood’s punk provocations and Alexander McQueen’s dark and dramatic visions and London’s long legacy of producing extraordinary designs.
We reminisced on what they used to wear in their younger days and had fun creating some wonderful fashion collages.
