Activities at Glebefields Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Happy 60th Birthday Chef Andrew

Residents and staff at Glebefields couldn’t let ‘Andy’ our wonderful chef miss out on having a birthday celebration to mark his 60th.

Andy has been part of the home team since November 2019. He’s a great guy, always ready to make everyone’s day special, he loves chatting with our residents and cracking jokes. He's a brilliant baker, but today the chocolate cake was on us!

Happy birthday from everyone at Glebefields; we hope you’ve had a lovely day, and enjoy planting your ‘peace lily’, watching it grow over time with a beer or two.

Saying Goodbye & Happy Retirement to Mariya

We have had the pleasure of beautiful 'Mariya' working with the team here at Glebefields for the past 12 years. It was with a heavy heart the residents and staff said 'good bye and happy retirement'

Even though it was a sad moment saying goodbye, we wanted to ensure Mariya she would be truly missed and poured her will good will messages and presents. We arranged for her to receive one of her favourites; a delicious fresh fruit cake, this time with her face on it!

Our residents gave her a Ted Baker necklace and the matching earrings came from her colleagues. The home manager and deputy presented Mariya with a beautiful L.Credi back-bag as a thank you from all at Barchester for her dedication and service to Glebefields over the years.

We all wish you a 'Happy and Healthy' retirement, you’ll not be forgotten, please come and visit at any time; we’re looking forward to wow'ing you on a show round of the newly refurbished home.

Virtual Visit to Iceland

Our residents recently took a 'virtual' trip to Iceland to learn all about the amazing birds that inhabit the Vestmannaeyjar Archipelago and hear about how SEA LIFE Trust’s animal care team, along with the islanders, are helping to protect them. The virtual tour was hosted by General Manager, Audrey Padgett and her expert team.

Audrey’s presentation took our residents behind the scenes at the Puffin Rescue Centre and showcased the work that the animal care team do every day to rescue the Atlantic puffins and keep them safe. Her talk covered the life of puffins in the wild, the puffling rescue programme in Westman Islands where the Rescue Centre is based and how the team nurture these charismatic little birds and rehabilitate them back into the wild.

Home Manager; Nisha said “Our residents love watching the live virtual events provided by our Life Enrichment team and finding out about new things and they are all especially interested in animals so we were delighted to be able to watch this presentation. We had so many questions, it was brilliant to be able to ask Audrey and her team all about the conservation work they do with the puffins.”

Congratulations 'Farmhouse Landscape'

We are so pleased to announce the Winner of our Oxfordshire Photography Competition is... Sam Kelly and her ‘Farmhouse Landscape’.

Our residents all felt the Farmhouse photo contained 'drama' and captured the beauty of our local countryside; whatever the weather.

We'd like to send special thanks to all those who entered. The quality of images received were so high, it was an extremely difficult decision for our residents to make.

Thank you all once again.
