Activities at Glebefields Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

The Oxfordshire Photography Competition - Judging

We'd like to send a massive 'Thank You' to all the amazing Oxfordshire photographers who entered our latest competition. Our resident judging panel gathered together yesterday to review each entry and were very impressed with the quality of each image.

The group spent time ranking each image, and have managed to bring all entries down to their top 4 finalists;

Blue-Tit Branch
Combine Harvest
Thistle Bees
Farmhouse Landscape

As the winning image will be printed and framed for display in our beautiful newly refurbished home, we have printed the final 4 and placed all on display for the judging panel to make their final decision later today.

The winner will be announced tomorrow 7th July 2021 - Good luck everyone, and thank you once again to all those who entered. We really do have a talented group of photographers within the local community!

We are making WOW progress!

We are making progress with our whole home refurbishment! We have had our builders strip the whole of our 1st and 2nd floor to start renovating them.

We are now onto Phase 1 of our WOW which is due to be completed by the end of the year. They are making our floors fresher, livable and more purpose built! Our General Manager, Nisha Shaji regularly meets with our site manager seen in the picture below to discuss time scales, weekly targets and how things are going.

To find our more about our WOW and reserving your room call today on 01295 738133!

National Carers Week - Thank you To Glebefields!

GLEBEFIELDS HONOURS CARERS FOR NATIONAL CARERS WEEK

Residents at Glebefields care home in Drayton, run by Barchester Healthcare, are celebrating National Carers’ Week, which takes place from June 7-13. Residents wanted to thank all the wonderful staff at the home, whose hard work and dedication make a real difference to the lives of those living in their care.

Carers Week is an annual event to raise awareness of caring, highlighting the challenges carers face, and recognising the contribution they make to our residents, families and communities throughout the UK. The theme for Carers Week this year is ‘Making caring visible and valued’ - to shine a light on all those who work tirelessly behind the scenes to care for vulnerable people in our communities.

Staff were treated to a loving card and box of chocolates gifted to them by our very own residents!

Nisha Shaji, General Manager said: “It is so wonderful to be able to celebrate Carers Week and thank our fantastic carers with a summer party in our garden this year, and to be able to welcome the community, relatives and friends back again, whilst adhering to government guidance of course. It really does feel like life is getting back to normal now that we can have events and entertainment again.  Everyone has had such a fantastic day, we’re all so happy to be able to see each other face to face.”

Our varied life enrichment programme keeps residents active, and provides a daily choice of engaging physical, mental and spiritual activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities.

We’re making our homes as safe as possible and will ensure that all new residents and staff are vaccinated before moving in or working in our homes.  Please do give us a call on 01295 738133 if you are looking for care or need any further help.

Glebefields Care Home is run by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest care providers, which is committed to delivering high-quality care across its care homes and hospitals. Glebefields Care home provides Residential and Nursing care.

What a lovely day for a Pic-Nic!

This last Friday, April 23rd the residents of Glebefields Care Home made the most of the beautiful weather and had an afternoon picnic in our garden. They were treated to a fabulous meal of fish & chips from our wonderful chefs. We basked in the sunshine in our bonnets until the late afternoon and when everyone else was ready to go in, Bert exclaimed that he, “never wanted to go back” because he had to work on his tan!

Our Easter Bonnet Winners!

Congratulations to Shenington’s Class 4, Group 5 on winning our annual Easter Bonnet Competition! Thank you Headmistress, Ms. Reynolds for encouraging their participation - our residents loved seeing their masterpieces! We hope they enjoy their prizes!
