Activities at Fountains Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Life at Fountains Care Home

Tesco's kind donation

Fountains celebrated a special birthday for one of its residents - Florence was 99yrs young!

As our first resident to move in and our first resident to celebrate a birthday at Fountains, it was a very special occasion.

Tesco Extra, Stratford Road were keen to be involved in marking the occasion.

Gillian Smith - Community Champion, delivered a lovely birthday hamper which included a bottle of champagne, chocolates and biscuits for our birthday girl.

It was very well received and enjoyed.

Thank you Tesco.

Chocolate Celebrations

Fountains didn’t need a lot of persuasion to celebrate World Chocolate Day!

Residents revelled in all things sweet and got hands on by making their own chocolate bars whilst reminiscing about the penny sweet toppings.

This was followed by some taste testing and enjoying more chocolate offerings made by our very own home chef and kitchen team.

Everyone enjoyed their chocolate fix and taking part in celebrating how chocolate is not only one of the most delicious and versatile foods but also packed full of health benefits.

Visiting restrictions lifting

Fountains Care Home has been able to facilitate socially distanced garden visits for our residents.

Following guidance from Public Health England and carrying out detailed risk assessments, we are so pleased to be able to reunite our residents with their families.

Visits must be booked so as the number of visitors are managed however we are able to offer flexibility as to how often these visits take place and for how long, as we are not yet full.

In these current times this is a real bonus and our families and residents are making the most after a long time being apart.

Happy visiting!

Symbol of support

Since we opened on 18th May and welcomed our first residents they have been working on a rainbow window decoration.

It has been hours of fun and concentration to produce a lovely window decoration that shows the community our gratitude and solidarity for NHS and key workers.

Thank you to our wonderful residents for producing such an impressive piece of art work that depicts hope during this panademic.

Fun in the sun

Our residents wasted no time enjoying the gardens when the sun was shining.

It was a lovely relaxed afternoon finished off with a delicious afternoon tea and infused cool drinks.

Everyone is looking forward to the next heat wave.

Fathers Day Celebrations

Fountains saw our first gentleman resident celebrate Fathers Day.

Tony was treated to his favourite ice cold beers and some home baked cakes.

The day was topped off by a special skype call with his daughter.

Happy Fathers Day Tony!
