Activities at Fountains Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Louise Crooks
Hello I am Louise, my first role with Barchester was caring for our residents. Previously I worked in an early years environment for 17 years where I organised activities and events. I am thrilled to now be Activities Lead and being able to continue enriching the life’s of our lovely residents here at Fountains.

Life at Fountains Care Home
Home grown vegetables
Fountains gardening club took the perfect excuse to enjoy the last of the glorious weather and a chance to get together with friends by getting outdoors and enjoying the benefits of nurturing their gardens.
Our plants are flourishing and we have been growing our own vegetables in our raised beds.
Everyone was thoroughly delighted to unveil the results of Fountains Gardening Club's efforts.
We can’t wait to make some delicious recipes with our home grown ingredients!
Sunflower Maze
Another wonderful minibus outing for Fountains residents to visit the beautiful sunflower maze at Becketts Farm.
Our residents enjoyed a walk through the beautiful blooms and were amazed at how many there were. It was a delightful day out for us all!
Zoo Lab visits
Fountains residents and staff were delighted to have Dominique from Zoo Lab here with us for a fascinating Show & Tell session about all things wildlife.
She brought a variety of species with her, including a giant African land snail, a millipede, a scorpion, a lively corn snake and even a dwarf rabbit.
Our residents were highly-engaged in the talk and loved asking questions and finding out all of the interesting facts about the animals they met.
They put caution and nerves behind them and held all of the creatures – however, the firm favourite was certainly the cute little dwarf rabbit.
Thank you, Dominique and Zoo Lab for such a wonderful and insightful talk. We’re really looking forward to your next visit.
Supporting Alzheimer's Society
Fountains is delighted to announce that two of its staff members will be taking part in this year’s ‘Alzheimer’s Society Memory Walk.’
Chloe one of our Senior Carers and Esme our Activities Coordinator will be taking part in the 7km walk to raise money for The Alzheimer’s Society a charity close to all of our hearts here at Fountains.
We wish our trusty duo the very best of luck and open the offer to our kind community. If anyone would like to sponsor them in their fundraising efforts, simply visit the link to the Just Giving page. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/esme-lloyd-kelly
Good luck, girls!
Sports & Exercise Therapy Sessions
Fountains residents and staff were thrilled to be involved in another Sports & Exercise Therapy Session this morning with our instructor Chloe from ‘Everyone 4 Sport’.
Everyone is feeling the benefit of taking part in these weekly sessions. In today’s activities we focused on ‘improving balance and mobility’.
Chloe has created a variety of different sporting challenges for us to get us match fit and full of beans. It really was great fun to be working as a team and winning points together.
A big ‘thank you’ to Chloe and the team at ‘Everyone 4 Sport’ for yet another fantastic session.
Diamond Wedding Celebrations
Fountains residents and staff were delighted to host our resident couple's John and Gloria’s Diamond Wedding Anniversary party.
John and Gloria have been married for 60 wonderful years and couldn’t wait to celebrate with friends, old and new.
Our fantastic kitchen team hosted a BBQ at lunchtime with delicious homemade potato salads, jerk chicken, burgers and hotdogs. It was a lovely opportunity to get together and celebrate our happy couple.
Of course no celebrations would be complete without some dancing. Our duo took to the floor and put on a show for us all.
To end a wonderful day, John and Gloria were treated to a private dining experience. They enjoyed a three-course set meal provided by our chefs; spicy parsnip soup, salmon en croûte, fresh strawberries with cream, followed by a delicious caramel sponge cake.
It was a perfect day for our couple and they were delighted with their special celebrations. Happy anniversary John and Gloria, here’s to many more years of happiness. Love from your Fountains family.
