Activities at Elm Bank Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Tina Prosho

Activities Lead

Hello my name is Tina and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Elm Bank Care Home.

I joined Elm Bank in May 2023 as a Team Leader soon becoming the Head of Care before moving to the role of Activities Coordinator and leading the team in January 2024. My passion is to provide life enriching activities that enhance the lives of our residents.

By providing entertainment that is not only stimulating but person-centred. Our weekly calendar offers rich experiences with music from live entertainers, visits to various locations outside the home of interest, as well as arts and crafts tailored to individual abilities. We are a pet friendly home and fully support the benefits animal therapy can bring to the lives of our residents and welcome animals of all kinds to the home on a regular basis.

Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular family and friends meetings we can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining Elm Bank that will make for a richer activities program to be developed. I look forward to getting to know you, and your loved ones.

We are always open to new ideas. If you would like to get involved in any of our Life Enrichment activities or have a skill, or project you'd like to share with our residents, please click here to contact me direct. New entertainers and community links are always welcome.

Life at Elm Bank Care Home

Mothering Sunday

This year, we celebrated all of our lovely mothers on Mothering Sunday across all communities with a Mother’s Day tea party, a chat and poetry readings with our activities team.

Pancakes for everyone

Elm Bank’s Head Chef, Harry, and his wonderful kitchen team made over 100 pancakes with 10 different toppings for residents in all communities within our home. General Manager, Jessica, had a go at flipping some, too. Harry had six frying pans cooking at the same time - that is the sign of a flippin' good chef!

Feature walls at Elm Bank

We are creating fun, themed areas throughout Elm Bank and residents are helping to come up with creative ideas. Here is our Garden Wall area providing visual stimulation, reminiscence and conversation for residents with dementia in our Memory Lane community.

Happy Valentines Day

Lockdown didn’t stop us from spreading love on Valentine’s Day. We enjoyed a day filled with love-inspired meals, baking some beautiful cakes, sipping a glass of wine and talking about ‘days of love’ with those who have passed away but remain in our hearts. And we shared the love with Kettering General Hospital, delivering a hamper of chocolates, cards and poems written by residents.

A Magic Table

We recently received an incredible piece of technology which projects images onto a flat surface, giving visual stimulation and opportunities to play sensory games. Our Magic Table is designed to increase happiness in people with dementia and we are already seeing wonderful engagement and enjoyment from many residents, and reduced anxiety.

Youngest registered care home manager in England

Jessica Pateman, General Manager at Elm Bank, has become the youngest registered Care Home Manager in England at the impressive age of 22 years and eight months, following an interview with the CQC. Jessica has already overseen new Covid testing, vaccination and family visit processes. She has introduced new ways of keeping in touch with residents’ families and the wider community, and she is studying for an NVQ5 in Leadership. Lorna Rose, Managing Director (Central Division) said, “Jessica really deserves this new role and recognition of her hard work and total commitment to providing the best care, lifestyle and activities programme for residents. She gained experience in several Barchester homes and we have always been impressed by her attention to detail, professionalism and ability to get to know people quickly. Nothing seems to faze her and we are delighted and proud that she is working at Elm Bank.”
