Activities at Elm Bank Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Tina Prosho

Activities Lead

Hello my name is Tina and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Elm Bank Care Home.

I joined Elm Bank in May 2023 as a Team Leader soon becoming the Head of Care before moving to the role of Activities Coordinator and leading the team in January 2024. My passion is to provide life enriching activities that enhance the lives of our residents.

By providing entertainment that is not only stimulating but person-centred. Our weekly calendar offers rich experiences with music from live entertainers, visits to various locations outside the home of interest, as well as arts and crafts tailored to individual abilities. We are a pet friendly home and fully support the benefits animal therapy can bring to the lives of our residents and welcome animals of all kinds to the home on a regular basis.

Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular family and friends meetings we can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining Elm Bank that will make for a richer activities program to be developed. I look forward to getting to know you, and your loved ones.

We are always open to new ideas. If you would like to get involved in any of our Life Enrichment activities or have a skill, or project you'd like to share with our residents, please click here to contact me direct. New entertainers and community links are always welcome.

Life at Elm Bank Care Home

Keeping fit at Elm Bank

The Elm Bank weekly activities programme always includes some sessions to keep us all fit and flexible. Here we are stretching to help with our reach and joint movements.

Carers Week

There was a huge celebration within our home for our fantastic carers during Carer’s Week. Winifred, one of our residents, ensured that all team members received their chocolates and letters from Barchester, including a fun pool party in the garden, all finished off with a game of bowls on the green.

A Bit of Poetry

At Elm Bank, we will always look to find the creativity within every resident, whether that be singing, dancing, painting or even poetry.

Here we have Kay, our Resident Ambassador, who created her own poem for the Barchester competition, which is now displayed at the front of our home.

Royal Celebrations

We enjoyed a fulfilled day in the central Garden by celebrating the Queen’s birthday with friends and relatives followed by entertainment from Fiona Harrison, who will be returning throughout the summer! Happy birthday to our Queen.

Fun in the Sun

Residents have been taking advantage of the sunshine this month in our garden. Residents have enjoyed lawn games such as ‘chair target teams’, ‘outside pampering’, 'fun pin bowling’, 'who can roll the ball the furthest?’ and much more.

Al Fresco Entertainment

On Saturday 29th May, our residents finally got to enjoy outdoor entertainment as restrictions were eased. Fiona, our outdoor entertainer for the afternoon, sang songs from war times and we loved reminiscing amongst family and friends.
