Activities at Derham House Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

I have worked in the care sector for many years. I am fully trained in dementia awareness, and I have also trained as a dignity champion. I have been working here at Derham House since March 2019, and I am really enjoying my role here.

Life at Derham House Care Home
Sunday songs of praise
Here at Derham we welcomed the local church to come in for group hymns and prayer. It is nice for us all who want to get involved, to have a sing along together.
They are a wonderful group of people who come in to do this, and we are looking forward to their next visit.
Light exercise at Derham House
Derham House got together for a regular light exercise in the week. We make it fun and lots of laughs were had by all! Throwing the balloon to one another is just one of our many enjoyable routines.
This is great for keeping everyone active including the staff!
Singer of all ages
We had an amazing singer Robert Jerome, who covered all eras including Frank Sinatra to Michael Buble. Everyone had a fantastic afternoon, singing along and having a dance.
We enjoyed tea and cake while Robert entertained us all with his talents. Everyone is looking forward to his next show.
10 Years of Service
Congratulations to our Head of Housekeeping, Saida Stepanaviciene, who has worked at Derham House for 10 years!
What an achievement this is; we value all her hard work and how excellently she runs her department, supporting her staff and everyone else at Derham House.
Care Home Open Day
We opened our doors at Derham House to welcome the local community to meet residents and staff members and for a chance to see our newly refurbished home.
We enjoyed a BBQ, a bouncy castle and were joined by vocalist, Mike Ryan, who entertained everyone. We also had a petting zoo with a honey bear as the main attraction.
Everyone had a fantastic day, even with the very hot weather!
Film Night
We gathered residents together in the garden room at Derham House for a film evening with a buffet and strawberries and marshmallows to dip in a chocolate fountain. We enjoyed The King and I, and had a fabulous evening singing along.
