Activities at Cubbington Mill Care Home
Every day we run different activities throughout our home. The activities are designed and adapted to each individuals personal needs. The activities are designed to mentally and physically stimulate the people we care for and also to enhance their life skills and feelings of purpose and self-worth. The activities encourage interaction on a one to one basis, in small groups, in large groups and some are designed for the whole home including staff to be involved in.
We are registered with the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA) which ensures we are able to achieve and continually progress to enhance the quality of life for those we support in the home. We provide entertainers such as singers, musicians, magicians, puppeteers, poets and dancers. We also have regular exercise classes and arts and craft classes. Relatives and visitors will be able to see what me make in these classes on display around the home. We have regular trips out on the mini bus to visit garden centres, enjoy high tea, visit the butterfly farm and spend the day at the zoo with a picnic. We encourage the local community, schools, colleges and relatives to come and join us for activities, tea and cake and to visit to share their skills as much as possible.
Staff from across the home are always willing to help and share their knowledge and skills across a whole range of activities we have had everything from carers preforming Bollywood style dancing to cooking classes from the chef. We feel activities are a vital part of the residents lives to ensure they are stimulated mentally and entertained.

Hi my name is Rose and I am the activities coordinator at Cubbington Mill!
I have been working in care since I was 17 and very passionate about my role, always trying to do bigger & better. I am one of Cubbington Mills Dementia Champions. I'm very privileged to work with the wonderful people and residents at Barchester's Cubbington Mill and hope we all make some lovely memories together! I LOVE to find out about residents interests & hobbies through tools like the “Getting To Know Me Booklets”.

Life at Cubbington Mill Care Home
Festive Tunes from Trudy
Day 6 of our Countdown to Christmas calendar welcomed pianist 'Trudy’ to our home, accompanied from the front by and Alison, one of residents family members, and Marija our new activities assistant. With a selection of festive tunes and carols, our residents had a super time singing along (Christmas hats were optional!).

Princethorpe Sixth Form Singers
The residents and staff at Cubbington Mill care home wish to send a big THANK YOU to Princethorpe College Sixth Form Students for visiting on Thursday to sing carols and welcome the festive period in style!
Visiting St Mary's Church Warwick
After an enforced "virtual" break last year St. Mary's Church, Warwick is once again hosting its popular Christmas Tree Festival in 2021.
A small group of home residents from Cubbington Mill took a trip out earlier this week to visit St Mary's and view the magical display.
Our residents particularly enjoyed the doggie star images on the Guide Dogs tree, its well worth a visit. Thank you for the invite and Merry Christmas from all at Cubbington Mill.
Christmas Tree Decorating
On the 1st day of Christmas our residents gave to me... Fun with friends decorating our restaurant Christmas tree!
Our wonderful ladies were full of festive spirit as they lovingly placed each bauble. We look forward to sharing more images as we countdown to Christmas Day.
2 Drummers Drumming workshop
Today we welcomed the crafts team from Creative Mojo Ltd to provide our residents with an all-inclusive Christmas themed crafting experience; The 12 Drummers Drumming workshop which had our group painting and decorating a wonderful festive toy soldier.
The colours were so vibrant, our carer team couldn’t resist getting involved, the group carefully painted each section and piece by piece the picture came together to create such a wonderful collage getting us all in the Christmas spirit.
Special Care Baby - Knitting Project Delivered
Over the past six months the residents, staff and friends of our home have been busy knitting alongside members of the local community with the aim of donating handmade gifts; blankets, booties, cardigans, hats and the most amazing teddy bears for the Special Care Babies in our region.
The local community of Cubbington, individuals and groups around Leamington Spa have been delivering their wonderful gifts to the home and this week our Activities Coordinator; Hannah had the pleasure of delivering over 100 lovingly knit items to the team at Warwick Hospital, Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU).
Midwife Jenny and Housekeeper Caren were so pleased to receive the bag loads of hand crafted items, and wanted to send a massive THANK YOU to the good people of Leamington for such a wonderful donation.
Home Manager; Dimpho Kavanagh said: “We started this project in April 2021, with the aim of connecting our residents to members of the local community in a joint adventure. We are so proud of all involved and have been overwhelmed with the response and dedication of the knitters in, and outside of the home.
We look forward to inviting all those involved in this mammoth knit to join us at Cubbington Mill for a well-deserved Afternoon Tea courtesy of our hospitality team in thanks for their efforts and support.”
We will be continuing our knit & natter workshops and there’s a slice of cake, cup of tea and a friendly ear for all those who wish to join us. We are welcoming new residents over the festive period, with a full calendar of life enriching events.
