Activities at Cheshire Grange Care Home
The activities team are constantly striving to meet the varied needs of everyone who lives in our home, offering a wide range of group and individual social events. There are regular visits from entertainers, along with craft activities, baking, games & puzzle days and pampering sessions, which fill the week. However, we can always find time for outings and just spending that little bit of special time with residents who enjoy the peace and quiet. We aim to bring the activities to the individual, whilst making it a whole home experience.

After originally starting at Cheshire Grange in May 2015, I'm delighted to be back in the role of Activities Coordinator. It is a privilege to be in this role and spend time, getting to know our ladies and gentleman and their loved one, whilst doing all the fun things that can make such a difference to their days.

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Cheshire Grange Care Home
Baubles
We all had a wonderful time joining Jennifer Owen - founder of Goldfinch Floral Studio for a creative floral bauble workshop.
Jennifer transported our residents to the out of the ordinary world of flowers and crafts and demonstrated how to create stunning hand-made baubles filled with dried flowers and grasses.
Our residents enjoyed filling and decorating their own glass baubles and their unique creations will be displayed at the home for everyone to enjoy.
Christmas lights
We experienced the Christmas extravaganza of Blenheim Palace with Social Historian - Antonia Keaney, who took us on a recorded tour around the Christmas sights at the palace this year.
Blenheim Palace
Our residents were thrilled to join Antonia Keaney - Blenheim Palace’s Historian for an intriguing virtual talk on Winston Churchill.
The private resources of Blenheim Palace were drawn upon to afford very new and refreshing insights into this remarkable man. During the talk Antonia shared fascinating information about the breadth of talent, achievement and personality of the "Greatest Briton": soldier, politician, statesman, painter, writer, orator, family man - and bricklayer!
We all had a wonderful time and enjoyed learning more about UK’s former Prime Minister.
Blooming Haus
We were delighted to join Blooming Haus’s Christmas Wreath Making Masterclass, where Master Florist, Michal and his business partner - Michael showed us the best method to create beautiful festive wreaths.
Following the tips and ideas learnt during the amazing virtual experience, we were happy to put our skills to a test and to enter the #BarchesterChristmasWreaths competition.
We all had a wonderful time creating our festive wreath/s.

We will remember
On the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month in 1918, the Armistice came into place, ending the hostilities of World War One, the war to end all wars.
At Cheshire Grange we spent the days running up to the 11th making poppies, involving as many residents as possible, for our tribute to those who gave so much, not only in WW1 but subsequent conflicts and reminisced about our residents memories and personal reflections of the times. We talked about family members who went away to fight, being evacuated, land girls, the fear and many other emotions.
Staff and residents gathered in the lounge to pay their respects during the televised service at The Cenotaph.
Elvis is in the building
Cheshire Grange residents and staff were delighted to welcome Elvis in to the building, Elvis the Golden Retriever. This was his first visit to us and although he was excited to be making new friends he was very well behaved, and made himself at home, so much so that he thought one of our ladies beds was his!!!!
Nearly all our ladies and gents got to spend time with Elvis, which he loved shaking hands and getting treats. We are all very much looking forward to seeing him again in a couple of weeks.
