Activities at Cherry Trees Care Home

Our activities team are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual social events for anyone and everyone to participate in. There are regular outings in the minibus to nearby places of interest, including the local theatre, as well as visits from Pat dogs, musicians and entertainers. We also host bingo, quiz and knitter natter afternoons that we encourage relatives and the local community to attend. Our Gentleman's Club is also open to non-residents every Thursday afternoon from 2:30pm, join us for a tipple of your choice, we have plenty of snacks and chats. For the ladies, our beauty salon provides; hairdressing and nail pampering, you too can enjoy a drink and some well-deserved 'me' time. Activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, so it is essential that our team are dedicated to ensuring that residents are entertained, and that life at Cherry Trees is fun and active.

Life at Cherry Trees Care Home

Birthday Celebrations

Birthday Celebrations

Our lovely resident Beryl enjoyed having all her family over to join her in celebrating her 90th birthday. The room was decorated and a buffet was provided by our fantastic kitchen team which went down a treat. It was nice to see how many different generations were there to help Beryl celebrate her special day.

Day Out to Cadbury World

Day Out to Cadbury World

Our residents enjoyed a minibus outing to Cadbury World. One of our residents has a trip down memory lane as he used to work there, this brought back lots of memories which he shared with us all.

After smelling and seeing all that chocolate which made us very hungry, we had lunch in the cafe and reminisced about the factory and all the different chocolates that are made. When we got home we shared our experience with all the residents and staff, not forgetting sharing the chocolate we bought during our visit.

Arts & Crafts

Arts & Crafts

Our residents at Cherry Trees are very creative and love our Arts and Craft sessions that are organised by our wonderful activities team. We always like to provide activities that interest each and every one of our residents to provide as much stimulation as possible. We are very proud of our ‘Lavender Heart Tree’ that we created and the residents loved the smell of the Lavender when making each heart.

Brisk Morning Walk

Brisk Morning Walk

As we are so lucky to be situated in such a fantastic area with lots of rural land around us, we like to take advantage and get out and about as much as possible. Our Memory Lane residents enjoyed an outing to Oversley Woods, where we enjoyed seeing all the different wildlife and greenery. During the visit we even saw a ‘den’ made by the local Scout group which brought back lots of memories.

Cherry Trees Disney Day

Cherry Trees Disney Day

We had lots of fun and games here at Cherry Trees for our best dressed Disney Character competition. Staff and residents dressed to impress in their Disney themed outfits which were judged by Liz who is part of our activities team. There was a massive round of applause for our winners Tim & Emma who dressed up at Mickey & Minnie Mouse.

After the winner was revealed we all tucked into our delicious homemade Disney themed cakes that were prepared by our fabulous Activities Coordinator Donna especially for the event.

Care Home Open Day

Care Home Open Day

Cherry Trees hosted its annual Open day and Summer Fayre on Saturday 18th June. The lovely weather enabled us to celebrate the day outside in our beautiful courtyard. Our theme this year was celebrating life through the ages. Texan Peacocks, the singer, came to perform a variety of songs to the residents - who loved dancing along with their family and friends.

We had a traditional British BBQ which the residents and guests enjoyed. The residents loved watching the children have their faces painted as colorful characters and playing good old fashioned games. The usual tombola, raffle and cake stall went down a storm, with lots of home-made treats, which included homemade cream scones and fairy cakes. This is an annual event which is always a great success and one we all look forward to.
