Activities at Chalfont Lodge Care Home

Chalfont Lodge is a large care home and we have a diverse range of groups and events to ensure that everyone feels welcome and included. In the Lifestyle team we work hard to create a sense of community and ensure there is always someone to talk to and something to do.

Our residents help us to plan the monthly lifestyle programme, making sure that everyone has something they like, enabling people to keep up with life long hobbies or pick up new ones. We have long term projects like our summer parties, car shows, BBQs, craft fairs, Christmas shows to mention a few and residents can be as involved as they would like in all stages of the planning or just come along and enjoy on the day.

We love going out on trips, to lunch, shopping or to socialise with other local groups, we also have many people who come into visit us with church services, music, talks and support for our bigger events.

We have a fantastic team of staff and every department is involved in making sure our residents get the most out of living here. We have a brilliant music therapist who works her magic 3 days a week, running group and individual sessions. Our Physiotherapy team keep everyone fit and active, working with us to make sure everyone has access to sports and team games.

We have a full programme groups, events and clubs but none of it would be possible without our residents and their families, we all work together to make this a home from home and to keep laughter and friendship at the heart of what we do.

Alex Perkins & Louise Doyle

Activities Team

Hello, I’m Alex the Activities Lead at Chalfont Lodge, working with me is Louise Doyle. I've worked at Chalfont Lodge for 8 years now. I originally started off as a volunteer and fell in love with the residents, families and staff. Since then, I've been an Activity assist, Activity Coordinator and now the head of the department! Activities are my passion and I love creating an environment where all of the residents can thrive and do what they love!

Life at Chalfont Lodge Care Home

U3A Choir Performance

U3A Choir Performance

Chalfont Lodge residents were treated to a short, but jolly performance by our local U3A Choir, who dressed in old style clothes for a more authentic feeling of travelling back to days gone by.

The choir performed a short list of songs that people could sing along to, which included 'Waiting at the Church', 'Oh, My darling Clementine' and Vera Lynn's 'We'll Meet Again' - and residents from all 3 of our communities sang along, clapping or tapping their feet to the rhythm of tunes from the good ol' days.

The choir clearly enjoyed themselves and got a great response from everyone. After all the excitement and energy used, everyone welcomed the chance to have a cup of tea and piece of cake together.

Easter Craft Fair

We held a craft fair on Easter Friday, comprising hand-made items made by residents, including bric-a-brac, a tombola stall, a selection of coffees and cakes, a raffle, a 'guess the number of eggs' competition and an Easter egg hunt for the children. The event was well-attended and brought a great atmosphere and vibe to our home as people tried to see if they would be a lucky winner with our stalls.

A huge thank you to all who were involved; with your donations, time and support, we raised £800 that will go towards a sounding bowl for our Music Therapist.

A Talk from Bee Keeper Paul

A Talk from Bee Keeper Paul

Paul, our local bee keeper, gave a talk and demonstration on how to take care of bees. We had a packed out room of residents who asked questions about why bee numbers are declining, what flowers to plant to attract them and how honey is produced and collected.

Paul had some samples of items to pass around the room and a few items of produce to sell. Some visitors were pleased to buy some locally produced honey and a member of staff got some bee's wax for a chest of draws at home.

All in all, the talk was a great success and staff and residents will be doing more this summer to protect our bees and help them flourish.

Opening Party for our Memory Lane Community

Opening Party for our Memory Lane Community

We had a lovely party to open our Memory Lane community after our refurbishments were finished.

We would like to thank our friend, Barbara, who kindly agreed to open the refurbished Memory Lane community here at Chalfont Lodge. Daniel and his team were very please to welcome her back on such a special day. We really had a wonderful party with a delicious lunch in our beautiful new restaurant, which was followed by live music and lots of dancing.

Church Service

Church Service

We would like to say a big thank you to Reverand Wendy who comes to give a traditional Church of England Service each month. We really appreciate Wendy and life would not be the same at Chalfont Lodge without that extra bit of support she gives.

Open Day

Open Day

Our team prepared for Open Day on Friday 27th January, where we celebrated Chinese New Year with crafts, a Chinese lunch and music. We also celebrated Chinese New Year by decorating silk umbrellas and making lanterns to decorate the home with. Staff dressed to bring a hint of China and a bit of fun to the day.
