Activities at Chalfont Lodge Care Home

Chalfont Lodge is a large care home and we have a diverse range of groups and events to ensure that everyone feels welcome and included. In the Lifestyle team we work hard to create a sense of community and ensure there is always someone to talk to and something to do.

Our residents help us to plan the monthly lifestyle programme, making sure that everyone has something they like, enabling people to keep up with life long hobbies or pick up new ones. We have long term projects like our summer parties, car shows, BBQs, craft fairs, Christmas shows to mention a few and residents can be as involved as they would like in all stages of the planning or just come along and enjoy on the day.

We love going out on trips, to lunch, shopping or to socialise with other local groups, we also have many people who come into visit us with church services, music, talks and support for our bigger events.

We have a fantastic team of staff and every department is involved in making sure our residents get the most out of living here. We have a brilliant music therapist who works her magic 3 days a week, running group and individual sessions. Our Physiotherapy team keep everyone fit and active, working with us to make sure everyone has access to sports and team games.

We have a full programme groups, events and clubs but none of it would be possible without our residents and their families, we all work together to make this a home from home and to keep laughter and friendship at the heart of what we do.

Life at Chalfont Lodge Care Home

Congratulations to Sarah!

Congratulations to Sarah!

Congratulations to Sarah, Divisional Winner of the Barchester Care Awards as Hospitality Champion!

Sarah has been a part of the Barchester family for over 18 years and continues to go above and beyond in her role here as Head Housekeeper at Chalfont Lodge.

Whether it’s going out of her way to take an ice cold beer to a resident before she goes home or just by making sure all the residents are happy and smiling. Sarah truly understands what it means to be a Barchester Employee as she always works with passion and integrity, she has respect and dignity for all, she understands her responsibilities and helps to empower every single person within our home, residents and staff alike.

Congratulations Sarah, we couldn’t think of a more deserving winner!

Feast Day

Feast Day

We had a stall at our local fete, ‘Feast Day’ in Chalfont St Peter. The sun was shining and we served beautiful cakes that were made by one of our talented Chefs. There was also a selection of cold drinks, all of which went down a treat in the hot weather.

We were raising money for the Barchester Foundation and it was great to be able to tell our local community about all the hard work it does.

Thank you to everyone who made it such a big success!

Open Day

Open Day

On Saturday 9th June, residents, relatives and guests from the local area joined us for our open day fete to raise money for Barchester's Charitable Foundation.

There was a selection of nibbles and aperitifs and the sun blessed us with an appearance, so people sat outside in the glorious, warm sunshine.

There was a very popular drinks raffle, with some people winning an array of cans, bottles and fizzy drinks that they joked could set them up for a party that evening.

A small bric-a-brac stall, physical games, such as hoopla and hook-a-duck added to the event, bringing a bit of fun and nostalgia to the day, as people reminisced about attending local village fetes in their younger years and the games that used to be popular.

Volunteers' Week

Volunteers' Week

We celebrated Volunteers' Week by inviting our volunteer friends from the local community to join us for a special tea party.

We had a selection of sandwiches, quiches, crisps, cakes and fruit, beautifully prepared by the kitchen team, that were washed down with several cups of tea and a good natter with residents and relatives, whilst sitting outside on the decking area enjoying the sunny afternoon.

Around 15 of our friends attended and all received a card thanking them for their time, care and support they give us. Guests included members from our local churches, our PAT dog and its owners, a local bee keeper and several members of a local choir. Each of then have built up special friendships with residents and relatives over the years and help our community at Chalfont Lodge to flourish by offering friendship and support, so it was lovely to be able to show our appreciation and to give back a little bit of the care they show us.

Local entertainer, David and Elizabeth Keen, rekindled an old friendship with Sandy from the Uxbridge Male Voice Choir; they first met over 35 years ago, but lost contact and were brought back together again, as they sat around the same table discussing their experiences at Chalfont Lodge. It was lovely to know that they were once again able to keep in contact and they spent the afternoon exchanging stories about their love of music and filling each other in on what they have been doing since they last met many years ago.

Bank Holiday Fun

Bank Holiday Fun

We were blessed with gorgeous weather during our May bank holiday. We all came together to enjoy drinks in the sunshine on our lovely decking area that overlooks a serene lake. Later in the day, residents, families and staff enjoyed refreshing homemade salads and ice creams to cool us all down.

Employee of the Month - April

Employee of the Month - April

Congratulations to Chris Kay, who is part of our maintenance team, for being named as Chalfont Lodge's Employee of the Month. Chris always has a smile on his face and goes the extra mile for all of the staff and residents here at the home.

Chris even brought in one of his beautiful vintage cars for our Classic Car Show for all of us to see.

Resident, Hazel, presented Chris with some flowers and thanked him for all his hard work.
