Activities at Chalfont Lodge Care Home

Chalfont Lodge is a large care home and we have a diverse range of groups and events to ensure that everyone feels welcome and included. In the Lifestyle team we work hard to create a sense of community and ensure there is always someone to talk to and something to do.

Our residents help us to plan the monthly lifestyle programme, making sure that everyone has something they like, enabling people to keep up with life long hobbies or pick up new ones. We have long term projects like our summer parties, car shows, BBQs, craft fairs, Christmas shows to mention a few and residents can be as involved as they would like in all stages of the planning or just come along and enjoy on the day.

We love going out on trips, to lunch, shopping or to socialise with other local groups, we also have many people who come into visit us with church services, music, talks and support for our bigger events.

We have a fantastic team of staff and every department is involved in making sure our residents get the most out of living here. We have a brilliant music therapist who works her magic 3 days a week, running group and individual sessions. Our Physiotherapy team keep everyone fit and active, working with us to make sure everyone has access to sports and team games.

We have a full programme groups, events and clubs but none of it would be possible without our residents and their families, we all work together to make this a home from home and to keep laughter and friendship at the heart of what we do.

Alex Perkins & Louise Doyle

Activities Team

Hello, I’m Alex the Activities Lead at Chalfont Lodge, working with me is Louise Doyle. I've worked at Chalfont Lodge for 8 years now. I originally started off as a volunteer and fell in love with the residents, families and staff. Since then, I've been an Activity assist, Activity Coordinator and now the head of the department! Activities are my passion and I love creating an environment where all of the residents can thrive and do what they love!

Life at Chalfont Lodge Care Home

Art Exhibition

We all had a lovely time with friends, family and the community who came to view artwork here at Chalfont Lodge which was painted and drawn by our residents. Over 25 pieces of artwork was out on display and so we all have a great time discussing the artwork, what it means and the inspiration that was behind it before making our way outside to enjoy the sunshine on the decking overlooking our lovely gardens and lake.

Garden Centre Day Out

We had a lovely day visiting Longacres Garden Centre today choosing new flowers to plant outdoors as part of our new Gardening Committee here at Chalfont Lodge. Residents will take turns heading out to garden centres and choosing their most favourite flowers before coming back and deciding where they want them planted. This has become a fun group for all involved!

Coronation Party

To continue the last day of this momentous weekend for the King, Chalfont Lodge held a Coronation Party fit for Kings and Queens with homemade cakes and treats along with live entertainment. All of the residents had great fun singing along to our well known songs and having a dance or two!

Coronation Day

Excitement was in the air as we all celebrated the highly anticipated Coronation of King Charles in style. Our home was beautifully decorated with themed flags, banners and balloons, setting the stage for a royal tea party. The whole home came together, along with families and friends to celebrate our new King and talk about the new era the country is entering.

Our talented chef prepared an assortment of delicious sweet treats for all to enjoy, accompanied by a glass of champagne. We all had such a brilliant time celebrating the Coronation, such a momentous occasion.

A performance by Ruth

Residents welcomed Ruth who has played us a medley of lovely songs throughout the afternoon on her harp. Music could be heard flowing through the corridors, inviting people to come and listen.

St. George's Day

In honour of the patron Saint of England - St George, residents at the home came together and thought of a lovely idea to make a poem to mark this National Day. Planning and ideas were given around the group and a poem was made called

"An Ode to Saint George"

Today is St George's Day, we remember him with pride,

let's celebrate in our way, or whatever you decide

The dragon did not hide,

so taking his trusty sword, the dragon he did slay,

and as it lay upon the ground, his life's blood ebbed away.
