"Top-class nursing home. Hands-on care from management, admin and all staff. Very approachable in all situations. Chefs take note of family suggestions and preparing individual meals if required. Excellent nursing care. Care team considers each patient's needs. Very clean and beautifully maintained, comfortable rooms with views. I give five stars to all concerned. Great, warm welcome at reception daily. They know each resident and their families by name."

They are very encouraging and the whole ambience here is a happy and caring one. A lovely place to spend time in. My friend is safe, well and happy. Thank you."

"Whilst Dad was only at Barchester Chalfont Lodge a brief time, I cannot fault the team at Chalfont Lodge. Everyone was compassionate, caring, professional and just lovely. All the team took the time to not only get to learn about and interact with Dad but they were looking after us at this difficult time. Could not wish for a better place for Dad to have been."

"The home itself is beautifully appointed, in lovely countryside. It felt like my partner's own home. My partner was so well looked after, with loving kindness. They were absolutely wonderful and all the staff so kind and caring. I cannot recommend this home too highly."

"My father has been a resident for three years now, he is on Memory Lane. The staff are the best, they treat my dad with such dignity and respect and I feel he is loved by them all, they also treat me like I am their family. I haven't a bad word to say about anything or anyone at Barchester Chalfont Lodge."

"A certain member of staff (as with all staff members) at Chalfont Lodge Care Home is beyond exemplary, as they genuinely care and this is evident from the personal attention to my mother and to ourselves. We are all known by our first names but treated professionally and with respect. I have no hesitation in highly recommending this individual in particular."

"My father was admitted to Chalfont from hospital in October 2022. I was always very happy with the way my father was treated and cared for. He had dementia and Alzheimer's, but this did not diminish the care and respect he was given by the Manager, Administrator, Head Of Turnberry and all the team. He was so kindly managed through his final three weeks of life and died comfortably and peacefully. The staff have all been very kind and caring, a lovely home and experience."

"This nursing home has my total approval and thanks for the manner and style of the care afforded to my wife. All the staff displayed great care and consideration at all times and under some difficult conditions. I cannot recommend highly enough Chalfont Lodge Nursing and Care Home."

"Everything, starting with viewing the care home, to transferring Mum from the hospital, and all the care she received in the home was perfect. Mum was always shown great kindness and treated with respect by everyone at Chalfont Lodge. Dad was also made to feel welcome during his long visits both day and night. It was a joy to visit each day, and whilst leaving her was difficult, we felt we knew she was being well cared-for all the time that we were not there."

"The whole staff are exceptional, not only in terms of care, professionalism, attitude and willingness to help. From the moment anyone walked through the front door, nothing was too much trouble and the atmosphere throughout the home was very positive and welcoming. My mother-in-law was extremely well cared for and as comfortable as possible, making her last few weeks as nice as could be in the circumstances. If Barchester have an awards/recognition scheme, then I would happily recommend the home and its staff for an award."

"I came to Barchester Chalfont Lodge Care Home to recuperate and have daily physiotherapy after a knee replacement. I was extremely impressed with my room on the ground floor with a wet room en suite. The dining room was pretty and inviting with proper linen tablecloths and napkins and the food was varied and beautifully cooked - the only thing to mention is that it was sometimes lukewarm but a minor criticism overall. My ultimate praises go to the staff - carers, nurses, physiotherapists, cleaners and admin. who could not have been kinder or more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and they were always cheerful and smiling. I was only at the Lodge for two weeks but it made an enormous difference to how I was able to cope on returning home. Thanks to everyone who helped my recovery."

"Sadly my mother had to go into a care home and we had to very quickly find a suitable place. This home stood out compared to others that we visited. It was a very difficult time but the care and genuine love felt by the staff was amazing. They are professional and nothing was too much trouble. They responded to any feedback and helped us to feel relieved at leaving our mother. unfortunately, she passed away in the home which they managed with extreme care and we were able to be with her in her final hour. They were genuinely upset and shared our sorrow. Everyone is approachable has compassion the standards are high. When you are dealing with one of the most difficult times of your life you need to feel confident that you have given your loved one everything that they have deserved."

"I have been aware of this home since 2013 as my father was a resident between 2013 and 2016. There is a much happier and more efficient feel and good to see the manager has been in place for just over 4 years. I have stayed in touch with the staff since my father's death and it is clear the home is much more better managed now and a reflection staff turnover seems greatly reduced. My initial conversations with two members of staff, in particular, were positive and they moved incredibly quickly to accommodate Mum. I was immediately impressed by the senior healthcare and in dealing with background and medication. etc. The activities I have met have been great."

I have not personally experienced the food but the menu looks good. Neither have I taken part in the activities but there are many, sometimes every day."

"My mother was being looked after at home by my wife and me but it was clear she needed professional full-time nursing. The nursing home came highly recommended to us by friends whose parents were here and we have been delighted with the care and attention the staff, at all levels have offered my mother. She has settled in well and has a safe and fulfilling life here with many varied activities. I cannot speak highly enough for all the staff here."

"As soon as we walk in the door, we are given a welcome by all the staff; they also ask how we are. Myself and my son are not concerned about anything, which we appreciate very much. The only thing we can say is there seems a shortage of staff at the weekends. We always enjoy the cup of tea we can have with my husband."

"We have a head chef who has worked with me on my vegan diet and the portions of my meals which makes me feel very special. The home manager makes sure that the residents are happy, as he makes time daily to listen to the residents. You can go to him at any time of the day and he will stop what he is doing and prioritise you. There is a new Deputy Manager who joined us about 2 months ago and she has been working very closely with me. I feel very supported and secure as the General manager and the Deputy manager as well as all my nurses and staff are very like my family."

"My husband is a spinal patient and therefore confined to bed or a wheelchair and has been in Chalfont Lodge for 6 months. He is mentally fine. He finds the staff caring and considerate. He is treated with dignity. Generally, he is happy with the food and there is a good choice. Because of his poor hand coordination, he is unable to do some of the activities but enjoys the music, both joining in and listening. He enjoyed being in the pantomime. He would welcome more church services, talks and games. He would enjoy outside visits. His room is small but chosen for its rural view. As a regular visitor, I find the staff helpful and friendly. Inevitably our family visits in the home have recently and regrettably been restricted to his room because of Covid. Where problems arise it is usually caused by a lack of communication."

"A big thank you to all the staff at Chalfont Lodge for providing such wonderful care for Mum during what have been very difficult times over the last year. Mum has settled in well and is very happy, so that makes us all happy too. A lovely setting in beautiful countryside which Mum enjoys as she's an outdoors person. Great that she can step outside and enjoy the country sights, fresh air and sunshine. Keep up the good work."

"Having visited Chalfont Lodge Care Home four years ago to visit a friend, I was impressed and when my husband needed care especially physio, I was determined this is where he would come. Standards had not changed and my husband progressed well. He came in on a stretcher and although he is 91, he is now able to walk with a frame. The home made our wedding anniversary and my husband's birthday special."

"Following a fall at home, my Mum was transferred from hospital into Barchester Chalfont Lodge where she has been for nearly 3 months now. She has had Parkinson's for 10 years and Dementia for 2 years and the home care for both of her conditions so well and professionally. The staff are wonderful and very caring for my Mum's needs and she felt at ease with them, straight away. The manager is always extremely helpful and assists with any questions, very quickly. We are made to feel very welcome when visiting Mum and considering all of the implications that Covid has caused, the home still works in a very efficient manner. Thank you to you all!"

"My husband spent 6 weeks of intermediate care on discharge from hospital. Towards the end of this time he, unfortunately, developed pneumonia, so I was allowed to visit in person for the last week of his life. During this period he received brilliant care from all the staff involved and their kindness to me really helped at such a difficult time. The skill and compassion shown by the nursing and care staff were impressive and I would have no hesitation in recommending Chalfont Lodge to anyone needing care."

"I’ve been in Chalfont Lodge for 4 weeks, unable to walk due to spinal cancer, and I’ve been impressed by the staff attitudes. Management ensures that everything runs smoothly by constantly evaluating things and improving them if required. They encourage the residents to have an input by listening to their needs. I’m delighted to say that after only 4 weeks in here, the excellent physios have got me walking again, with the use of crutches. By teaming my determination with their skills, not only have they got me walking again, but they’ve also given me the opportunity to enjoy an independent quality of life that previous physios couldn’t. The nurses and carers ensure that they treat the residents with care and compassion. Daily menus offer a choice of nutritious food. The cleaning staff ensures a high standard of cleanliness. I would have no hesitation in recommending this care home to anyone who needs the services they offer."

"My Mother received palliative care for her last few weeks. She was treated with absolute kindness and dignity. The nursing care was very professional and of a good standard. Activities were gently encouraged, but her frailty meant she had no interest in joining in. Her wishes were completely respected and efforts were made to ensure she received company from a variety of staff, thus ensuring that she was not excluded. Her stay was in the middle of Covid lockdown, and we were impressed with how Chalfont Lodge dealt with the difficulties that the situation presented. With thanks."

Chalfont Lodge Care Centre was able to provide all the support and assistance she required. The staff were very professional but also kind and caring. "My husband spent the last month of his life in Chalfont Lodge receiving palliative care for lung cancer. Right from my first visit to find a safe and comfortable place for him to stay until his death I cannot fault the caring and sensitive care both he and I received at Chalfont Lodge. It was a hard decision to opt for a nursing home, but one both I and close relatives don't regret. We could not have managed the same level of care at home. We very much value the kindness, compassion and understanding from everyone at Chalfont Lodge. Thank you."

"I wanted to take this opportunity to thank and praise Chalfont Lodge for the care they provided my dad, my dad was their longest staying resident to date, he was cared for, for 20 years, this was due to a severe brain injury sustained by dad in 1997. Chalfont provided a safe Environment that offered my dad calm, security and a high level of specialist care that he required. Especial thanks to the staff on memory lane that were there for my dad day in day out catering for his needs but most especially for treating him with respect and as one of their family."

"The manager and staff of Chalfont Lodge are reliable, honest, professional and very caring. When my aunt, after a spell in hospital, decided to enter care by her own choice; it took her some time to settle in. Everyone of the staff put in the effort and good nature that was needed to give her the support that our aunt required and to give her the security that she had lost in herself. She soon realized that her wellbeing was certainly better and she came too terms in which is a major change in her life. Well run, well maintained, interesting activities, good food, good housekeeping and laundry service, as well as great care and nursing. Reception and management were always very helpful when questions needed answers; nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Sadly, our aunt passed away in April. It meant so much to know that she had the best of care to her end and that she was not alone. Thank you to all at Chalfont Lodge"

"Our father arrived in June 2019. I cannot fault the care and respect given to my father and the family. The devotion given by all staff on Memory Lane has been second to none. I will be sad not to see the team when the time comes. I wish I could mention a few names but I can't. The food is lovely too, we have Sunday roast most weekends. "The care my Dad receives day to day at the home is immeasurable. We know when we leave him at the home he is well looked after which gives us a lot of comfort. The staff are incredibly patient and kind (even though a little overworked). The staff are friendly to family members too which makes visiting easier. The open house policy allows for visits at any time of the day. Just as a note - I've marked the facilities as poor, as the outside needs to be fit for purpose for the residents. You cannot get around the grounds in a wheelchair and there are very little options to take a walk anywhere. Improvements should be made."

<p>"My 83-year-old mother who has dementia fell and broke her hip. She endured a torrid month in the hospital and left weak, disorientated and unable to stand let alone walk. Her care home is first class but had limited physio support.

I agreed on an intensive programme of physio which, together with provision at her other care home was my attempt to try and get mum at least stronger and not wheelchair dependent for the rest of her life.

The transformation has been remarkable - six weeks later and mum is no longer in a wheelchair, walks quite well with a frame and even unaided.

Whilst this positive change isn't down to any one person - it has certainly been a team effort - there is no doubt as to the "lead" physios - have been excellent in helping achieve the excellent progress made.

All visits to Chalfont Lodge have been efficiently handled and all staff have been kind and friendly

"Two years ago I stayed here for respite and vowed that if I ever need such care again I would come straight back. This year I did precisely that. Again, my stay was ideal. The management team and staff are very kind and so helpful. The food was good and served by charming staff in the pretty dining room. I chatted to a number of the long term residents who spoke warmly of their care and of the varied activities provided for them. My week's stay was very enjoyable and over all too quickly."

"I live in Canada and I am always concerned for my son and the care he receives as I can only visit the UK two or three times a year. My son was moved to Chalfont Lodge between my visits so I was anxious. Now I have experienced the Lodge, I couldn't be happier with the care he receives. Not only that but every member of staff, regardless of their position, have been welcoming and extremely helpful not only to my son but also to me. The staff and services are excellent. The property is very well maintained and spotlessly clean."

I often witness the attentive care being given to my mother-in-law and it is clear to me that the standard of care I see is the norm as often the carers are unaware that I am there."

"My father had two short stays here in the last three months, recovering from surgery. We cannot recommend Chalfont Lodge enough! They provide excellent care and staff and residents are extremely friendly and welcoming. He arrived here from hospital two and a half weeks ago in a wheelchair and is now going home, walking with a walking stick only. Having in-house physio team has been essential to his excellent recovery. Also having meals with the resident's ambassador has been a real bonus."

"Following problems with challenging behaviour, my mum was asked to leave another residential care home. Thank goodness she was and far from requiring an EMI, Mum has settled into a general unity very happily and is thriving. She is always washed, dressed and her hair styled by the time we arrive to visit in the mornings, her room is clean and tidy, her bed is always made. There are activities for her to join in every morning and afternoon, 7 days a week, in fact people travel to this nursing home as day patients to join in the activities. The food is excellent and plentiful. Mum enjoys the occasional glass of wine with her meals. I highly recommend the very kind and professional staff from General Manager to Health Care Practitioners."

"My wife was admitted at the end of December 2017 and remained there until her death on 10th February 2018. She was totally dependent on 24-hour help as she could not use her limbs, talk or feed herself. Throughout this time she was dealt with in a most sensitive and friendly manner. The staff were also alert to her medical needs and responded with immediate and professional support. "As the family of a resident of Chalfont Lodge we booked to have Christmas dinner in the restaurant. We were warmly welcomed with festive drinks in the lounge/conservatory which had been decorated beautifully and we were able to invite extended family in for a while to ensure we could all see each other that day. Six of our party had booked for dinner. The tables were set nicely and the service was excellent - friendly, attentive staff. There were a couple of good choices for each course and the meal was served promptly and came out hot. We all had a very enjoyable Christmas lunch. Without this service/facility we would not have been able to spend some of Christmas together so we are extremely grateful. We would like to thank all the staff for their hard work - Reception staff for overseeing bookings, Activities staff for the wonderful welcome, Care/Nursing staff for looking after residents, Cleaners/Maintenance/Groundsmen for keeping the place looking good, the Chef/Kitchen staff for working so hard to feed everyone well and of course, management for pulling all this together. Thank you."

"I have been visiting Chalfont Lodge Care Centre since early October. From the first time, the atmosphere was of calm and warmth. The staff are unobtrusive quick to respond with concern and care if needed. This was shown especially shown last weekend to my friend. Today a special buffet lunch was enjoyed to celebrate a very special birthday. It really made a memorable day for us. He settled very well and remained happy throughout his stay, save for a couple of incidents with other residents that could not have been avoided. "I can not fault the home, the staff, or the care my dad is receiving. However, the thing that has disturbed me immensely, was my son picked my mother up from visiting my dad one afternoon, and there was a funeral directors van parked in front of the main entrance. As my mum was waiting at the lift to take my dad back to his room, the lift opened and two funeral directors had a deceased resident in a bag, and transferred her through the main entrance, in front of visitors sat with residents, very distressing for all, including my son. Need to address this."

The staff are wonderful. Nothing is too much trouble. Today I return home and I shall miss them - they have become friends as well as carers. The Lodge itself is delightful, very comfortable, spotlessly clean, with attractive lounges and a charming restaurant. The food is very varied and delicious. "My mother has a strong personality which her illness transforms into so-called 'challenging behaviour'. For this reason other care facilities have previously turned their backs on her, sometimes quite cruelly. From the time of her assessment for Chalfont Lodge (personally by the manager) she has been treated as an individual, with kindness and understanding and enabled to regain her dignity. Best is the feeling that staff in all roles see through the problems arising from age and infirmity to the lovely lady that my mother still is - and can sometimes helpfully remind me of that. After previous tribulations it is a great relief to know that she is now valued and well cared for in a happy environment that also offers high standards of cleanliness and catering. All this despite issues with staff retention and recruitment, which afflict the care system (as currently organised) as a whole."

She is cared for and loved by the nurses. I am kept informed of her care, she is warm, clean and well fed. Her medical needs are all looked after so we have nothing to worry about. "My Dad has been Chalfont Lodge Care Centre for 18 years, he is their longest serving resident having received a brain injury at the age of 57. The quality of the care and accommodation at Chalfont is exceptional which is extremely important to us as a family given that this has been dad's home for nearly 20 years. I'm always impressed by the friendliness and patience of the staff when I visit and the quality of the environment is beautiful, unlike many care homes.
