Activities at Chalfont Lodge Care Home

Chalfont Lodge is a large care home and we have a diverse range of groups and events to ensure that everyone feels welcome and included. In the Lifestyle team we work hard to create a sense of community and ensure there is always someone to talk to and something to do.

Our residents help us to plan the monthly lifestyle programme, making sure that everyone has something they like, enabling people to keep up with life long hobbies or pick up new ones. We have long term projects like our summer parties, car shows, BBQs, craft fairs, Christmas shows to mention a few and residents can be as involved as they would like in all stages of the planning or just come along and enjoy on the day.

We love going out on trips, to lunch, shopping or to socialise with other local groups, we also have many people who come into visit us with church services, music, talks and support for our bigger events.

We have a fantastic team of staff and every department is involved in making sure our residents get the most out of living here. We have a brilliant music therapist who works her magic 3 days a week, running group and individual sessions. Our Physiotherapy team keep everyone fit and active, working with us to make sure everyone has access to sports and team games.

We have a full programme groups, events and clubs but none of it would be possible without our residents and their families, we all work together to make this a home from home and to keep laughter and friendship at the heart of what we do.

Alex Perkins & Louise Doyle

Activities Team

Hello, I’m Alex the Activities Lead at Chalfont Lodge, working with me is Louise Doyle. I've worked at Chalfont Lodge for 8 years now. I originally started off as a volunteer and fell in love with the residents, families and staff. Since then, I've been an Activity assist, Activity Coordinator and now the head of the department! Activities are my passion and I love creating an environment where all of the residents can thrive and do what they love!

Life at Chalfont Lodge Care Home

St Andrews Opening Ceremony

The Mayor, Andrew Wood and Barchester’s Divisional Director Natasha Lazovic came to Chalfont Lodge to officially open our St Andrews Community. Residents and staff were greeted by Andrew, who then gave a wonderful speech before having a tour of St Andrews and then of the whole home. Everyone had a great day and would like to thank the Mayor for his time.

Performing Pets

We would like to say a massive Thank You to the Performing Pets team who have been bringing us in a new furry friend to meet each month. In August we got to meet the gorgeous Slinky the Sausage dog who is 3 years old as well as the very young Dave the Dalmatian who is 3 months old.

Attic Sale

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, donated and purchased items from our Annual Attic Sale! We raised over £115 that will be going to the resident’s choice of charity, the Dogs Trust!

Intergenerational Exercise Class

Ajooni Singh 7 years old and Nihaal Singh 4 years old from The Stoke Poges School visited Chalfont Lodge Care Centre to spend some time with our residents. The children ran an exercise class under the supervision of our Physiotherapist Mansukh Chander. In the afternoon Ajooni read books to our residents and also helped residents with their Art and crafts session. Our Resident Ambassador Maureen mentioned, it was great to see two cute kids spending time with us! They both were adorable.

Sports day

After a wonderful morning cheering on Tour de Barchester, Chalfont Lodge had our annual sports day organised by our fabulous Physiotherapist Mansukh & her team. Our dedicated Regional Director Wayne opened the sports day with a ribbon cutting ceremony to ‘let the games begin!’ We’ve had a wonderful morning and did lots of different games with residents, family & staff. We also had a great sing along from our talented Music Therapist Louise & Marius our Senior Housekeeping Assistant. All money raised from today will go to the Barchester Foundation!

Tour De Barchester

Over four days, from July 5th- 8th, the team of care home workers and directors cycled from Yorkshire to London, stopping at 15 care homes and one hospital across all four of Barchester’s divisions. At every service, they were met with a rapturous welcome from staff and residents who had organised fund-raising events with all kinds of entertainment, from steel bands to fancy dress, chocolate fountains to residents on static bikes matching them mile for mile – the homes pulled out all the stops to show their support and help raise funds. The total raised so far is over £15,000 with more still to come. Thank you to everyone who came to show their support and to everyone who donated!
