Activities at Chalfont Lodge Care Home

Chalfont Lodge is a large care home and we have a diverse range of groups and events to ensure that everyone feels welcome and included. In the Lifestyle team we work hard to create a sense of community and ensure there is always someone to talk to and something to do.

Our residents help us to plan the monthly lifestyle programme, making sure that everyone has something they like, enabling people to keep up with life long hobbies or pick up new ones. We have long term projects like our summer parties, car shows, BBQs, craft fairs, Christmas shows to mention a few and residents can be as involved as they would like in all stages of the planning or just come along and enjoy on the day.

We love going out on trips, to lunch, shopping or to socialise with other local groups, we also have many people who come into visit us with church services, music, talks and support for our bigger events.

We have a fantastic team of staff and every department is involved in making sure our residents get the most out of living here. We have a brilliant music therapist who works her magic 3 days a week, running group and individual sessions. Our Physiotherapy team keep everyone fit and active, working with us to make sure everyone has access to sports and team games.

We have a full programme groups, events and clubs but none of it would be possible without our residents and their families, we all work together to make this a home from home and to keep laughter and friendship at the heart of what we do.

Hello, I’m Alex the Activities Lead at Chalfont Lodge, working with me is Louise Doyle. I've worked at Chalfont Lodge for 8 years now. I originally started off as a volunteer and fell in love with the residents, families and staff. Since then, I've been an Activity assist, Activity Coordinator and now the head of the department! Activities are my passion and I love creating an environment where all of the residents can thrive and do what they love!

Life at Chalfont Lodge Care Home

Exotic fruit tasting

Today at Chalfont Lodge we had a go at trying all different types of exotic fruit. Trying new foods will do more than widen your horizons - it can help you eat healthier, introduce you to different cultures, and add more nutrients to your diet. We tried yellow flesh nectarines, passion fruit, lychees, sugar mangos, coconuts, pomegranate and a golden dragon fruit! Lychees and the sugar mango where a clear winner for all, but we all had a lovely time discussing all the different textures and flavours and guessing where we thought they’d come from.

Performing Pets

We had another wonderful pet therapy session with the beautiful American Miniature Shetland Scooby who surprised us with his presence today. Scooby brought lots of happiness with him - spreading it around the home to all of our residents! Pet Therapy is very important to us to help combat loneliness and enhance the wellbeing of all our residents here and seeing all those smiling faces is something we will never forget.

Chalfont Lodge's Charity Attic Sale

Thank you everyone who donated items for our Attic sale. Great fun was had by residents, families and the community browsing our bargains that we had on offer and we have raised just over £150 for such an amazing cause - Great Ormand Street Children's Hospital!

Thank you everyone who came along!

World Chocolate Day

What a wonderful time we had celebrating World Chocolate Day. Our residents ravelled in all things sweet and enjoyed chocolaty activities - an exciting tasting experience, where they had the chance to try different flavoured chocolate from all over the world, whilst also taking part in themed chocolate quiz before then choosing our most favourite chocolate!

A wonderful time was had by all!

Gardening Committee

We had a lovely day visiting Rowan Garden Centre today choosing more flowers to plant for our latest project. As part of the new Gardening Committee, residents chose to make a new beautiful centrepiece on the home's roundabout consisting of their favourite flowers for all residents and families to enjoy viewing.

Great fun was had with the project coming along nicely! Keep checking in for more updates on how we are getting on!
