Activities at Canmore Lodge Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators are committed to organising a variety of events as well as offering tailored programmes to stimulate residents both mentally and physically. There are regular outings in the minibus to local places of interest, such as trips to the beach for ice cream, pub visits for a pint, and regular trips to Dobbies for tea and cakes. Georgie Girl, an old English sheep dog, also stops by the home on regular basis for pet therapy. Musical entertainment is a big hit with residents as well, so we book fan favourites to come and play at the home each month. At Canmore, relatives are always encouraged to join in on the fun too.

Life at Canmore Lodge Care Home

Silk creations from charity Silk Elephant

Residents and staff at Canmore Lodge were delighted to receive a random act of kindness from charity, Silk Elephant.  Everyone at the home have loved looking at these colourful little parcels whilst choosing their favourite and bringing a smile to their faces along the way.  Thank you Silk Elephant.

Residents celebrate milestone anniversary

A couple from Canmore Lodge care home, in Fife have celebrated 65 years of marriage.

Arthur Martin, 86 and Grace Martin, 86 met at Arthur’s parents’ home on Boxing Day 1947 and expressed “wow” when he saw the 12 year old.  Arthur and Grace have 2 children, Andrew and Heather and two grandchildren and a great grandchild on the way. Trick or treat fun for Residents

Barchester’s Canmore Lodge care home was a den of ghoulish activity as the home’s spooky Halloween party got in to full swing.

Staff and residents got in to the spirit of things with games, apple bobbing with apples taken from the homes garden and much more!  It was a spooktacular fun filled day filled with laughter!  Residents also enjoyed delicious home-made cakes prepared by the homes hospitality team over a cup of tea.

Home is keeping Residents connected

Residents are overjoyed at Canmore Lodge care home in Dunfermline, as Barchester Healthcare has implemented a designated visiting room for residents to continue to spend time with their loved ones for the autumn and winter seasons in addition to the outdoor visiting that has been on offer for those able for many months.

Balancing resident wellbeing and safety is at the forefront of Barchester Healthcare’s thinking and they understand how important it is for residents and their family and friends to be able to spend time together in the safest way possible.

There has been much careful planning and preparation for this moment by Barchester Healthcare, who run Canmore Lodge care home. It was welcome news for their residents and family and friends as we enter the colder season meaning catch-ups can continue to take place, instead of, or in addition to, outdoor visiting already offered for those able.

Residents go for 'gold'!

Residents and staff at Canmore Lodge laced up their trainers and warmed-up for a fun-filled afternoon of games. Staff and residents showed their friendly competitive streak as they took to their marks in a selection of games, an interactive game of crazy golf, bowls, tin pan alley as the teams battled it out to be crowned sporting champions!

General Manager Jane Aitken said: “We always encourage our residents to keep active. With late summer upon us we had a great opportunity to have some indoor fun before we can get outside to enjoy our gardens. Our residents and their guests really enjoyed today and it was lovely to see so many of them getting involved. It reminded all of us of when we were kids at school!”

Home has 'latte' fun for Macmillan

Staff and residents at Canmore Lodge in Dunfermline held a charity coffee morning on 25th Sept to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Canmore Lodge’s coffee morning was a big success – they managed to raise £170.00 and, most importantly, everyone had a lot of fun doing it!

The British charity provides financial aid, specialist healthcare services, and all different kinds of support to those living with cancer. The purpose of the coffee morning is to sit down with your friends and catch up with a nice cuppa for a good cause. The money raised will help Macmillan make sure no one has to face cancer alone.
