Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

I started working at Bushey House Beaumont in 2022 in an activities role that I absolutely love. There are very few jobs that offer the daily satisfaction and fulfilment that mine does. I am delighted to be able to play my part in helping to bring joy and laughter into our residents’ daily lives and offer them an interesting choice of events to do just that.

Today residents at Bushey House Beaumont were joined by the team from VIE International and enjoyed an action packed music and mobility session. The session is made up of seated exercise to live singing, quiz questions,, games and of course a sing along. Today we were treated to a quiz on songs and singers from the 60s and 70s, questions on places around the world and famous film stars of the 50's. We exercised to Delilah, a Tom Jones favorite of ours and played a game of "play our cards right." A take on the famous TV show.

What a wonderful afternoon we had at the Bushey House Dog show. Residents and team members were joined by their family and friends, as their family pets took center stage.
Residents at Bushey House voted for their favourite and here are your winners.
First place Noodles he is a lovely poodle cross and is a furry member of Ruth Cywan's family.
Second place Nelson he is an American bulldog and belongs to Archie, son of team member Suzy.
Joint third Laghi who is a cross breed rescue from Cyprus and is part of Barbara Peter's family.
Joint third Dexter he is a Yorkshire terrier cross and belongs to Hannalore Parrinis family .
Sheila a resident at Bushey House presented the prizes and treats to all our winners.

Pet therapy an important part of The lifestyle program at Bushey House.
To mark National Dog Day Bushey House Beaumont had some fury friends visit. Dave the Dalmatian who is just 3 months old, came along to say hello All the residents had great fun watching him run around and of course their were lots of cuddles too!
Pet therapy is an important part of our activities program at Bushey House. Multiple studies have found that being around animals is a huge mood booster and reduce the risk of developing depression. Other studies have found that dogs in particular can support in decreasing the feelings of anxiety and sadness as well as increasing physical activity.

There is always plenty to talk about at Bushey House Beaumont. Residents meet in the library to mull over the morning's newspapers and enjoy a coffee and some delicious home baked cakes.

The Commonwealth Games at Bushey House.
Sports fans at Bushey House were delighted to be able to watch this year’s Games, especially given they are taking place on home soil in Birmingham. Residents enjoyed it so much they decided to hold their own events in the Bushey House games. Residents and staff have had a brilliant time getting together to take part in event’s including Bowls, Darts and Croquet. There was a closing ceremony where the winning Red team were presented with a trophy.
Mary Jane, General Manager at the home, said: “We have loved watching the Commonwealth Games, but it was even more fun holding our very own games. It was fantastic cheering everyone on and we had such a lot of fun staging our own opening and closing ceremonies. Congratulations to the Red Team who were worthy winners.”

Bushey House Games Bowls Tournament.
We kicked off our Bushey House Games with a Bowls tournament. We bowled in our teams and there was lots of cheering and support for each other. Concentration was high and everyone said what a fun afternoon it had been. We enjoyed an after match tea party and deliberated tactics for the next match.
