Activities at Brookfield Care Home

Our Activities coordinator dedicates her time on getting feedback from our residents of what they like to do. We have introduced paper mornings which involves group discussions and an active mind, and we also have a variety of entertainers that come in on a weekly basis. We hold a residents quiz once a week as it is one of our more popular activities, we now call it the Big Quiz due to its popularity.

It is important that we involve the community and family in many of our activities. We have the local rugby club heritage centre coming in once a week to do Bocci (indoor bowls) and seated exercise. We also hold cheese and wine evenings for family and residents which are very popular. Here at Brookfield we pride ourselves on the fabulous bond our activity coordinator has with all our residents as they are as happy to see her each morning as she is to see her friends.

Life at Brookfield Care Home

Home Ambassador Welcomes Great-grandchild

Home Ambassador Welcomes Great-grandchild

Resident Ambassador, Jim Critchley was overjoyed recently to meet the newest addition to the family when he was introduced to his great granddaughter, Harriet. As the tiny bundle slept soundly in Jim’s arms there were lots of 'Oohs' as residents peeked in to the lounge to see the homes youngest visitor.

It brought a smile to everyone’s faces and talk soon turned to fond memories as they remembered the arrival of their children. Jim is looking forward to the families next visit to see how much Harriet has grown.

Music Therapy for Residents

Music Therapy for Residents

Brookfield's residents enjoyed a morning of music for health therapy at the home with Helen. Everyone got to choose their own percussion instrument, which ranged from tambourines to maracas, and to fill the home with wonderful music. Residents had great fun singing and dancing along to the different sounds.

After the performance, everyone enjoyed refreshments and delicious home-made cakes.

Lisa Quarmby, Activities coordinator said “it is enjoyable to see the residents' faces light up when the animals were brought in. I must admit they are rather cute and adorable and we all had a lovely morning”.

Residents Get Colourful

Brookfield Residents enjoy a splash of colour as they enjoy their regular arts and crafts session at the home. As everyone concentrated on creating their masterpieces you could hear a pin drop before everyone sat back to look at their creations over a tea and a delicious slice of home-made cake.
