Activities at Brookfield Care Home

Our Activities coordinator dedicates her time on getting feedback from our residents of what they like to do. We have introduced paper mornings which involves group discussions and an active mind, and we also have a variety of entertainers that come in on a weekly basis. We hold a residents quiz once a week as it is one of our more popular activities, we now call it the Big Quiz due to its popularity.

It is important that we involve the community and family in many of our activities. We have the local rugby club heritage centre coming in once a week to do Bocci (indoor bowls) and seated exercise. We also hold cheese and wine evenings for family and residents which are very popular. Here at Brookfield we pride ourselves on the fabulous bond our activity coordinator has with all our residents as they are as happy to see her each morning as she is to see her friends.

Residents enjoy traditional games afternoon

Residents at Brookfield enjoyed a reminiscent games afternoon in the library.  As the ladies worked together to complete the jigsaw they chatted about their favourite childhood games including hopscotch, dominoes and cards.  Once the final piece of the jigsaw had been placed the ladies sat back to enjoy a refreshing cup of tea.

Residents create rock garden

Residents of Brookfield have been busy painting rocks to form a rockery at the bottom of their garden to add a splash of colour, taking inspiration from the Lymm Rocks gift during lock-down.

A splash of colour

Residents from Brookfield often get together to enjoy their regular art sessions which supports their creative ideas and encourages different methods of Art.  Following the delivery of ‘Lymm Rocks’ to the home, resident Raymond is busy creating his own style of colourful rocks to display in the garden.

This class is particularly popular with all and everyone thoroughly enjoys a get together with a cuppa and a slice of delicious cake.   Residents enjoy the colouring as find it very calming and therapeutic. It enhances mindfulness and promotes a positive mental well-being.
