Activities at Brookfield Care Home

Our Activities coordinator dedicates her time on getting feedback from our residents of what they like to do. We have introduced paper mornings which involves group discussions and an active mind, and we also have a variety of entertainers that come in on a weekly basis. We hold a residents quiz once a week as it is one of our more popular activities, we now call it the Big Quiz due to its popularity.

It is important that we involve the community and family in many of our activities. We have the local rugby club heritage centre coming in once a week to do Bocci (indoor bowls) and seated exercise. We also hold cheese and wine evenings for family and residents which are very popular. Here at Brookfield we pride ourselves on the fabulous bond our activity coordinator has with all our residents as they are as happy to see her each morning as she is to see her friends.

Life at Brookfield Care Home

Virtual cruise with Unilever

We had a lovely time joining Paul Hawkins and Lisa Richards from Unilever for an exciting Virtual Cruise experience.

Our residents were welcomed with mocktails as Lisa and Paul took them on a magical journey to 3 mystery destinations, which were uncovered after a few clues.

Paul demonstrated how to create a few of the local traditional dishes, which our residents had the opportunity to try too.

The event evoked lots of great memories and it was truly enjoyed by all.

World's Biggest Coffee Morning

In recognition of Macmillan’s Coffee Morning, we hosted our very own garden event for friends, families and community members to raise funds for the charity.

The garden was specially decorated for the occasion, our talented chef prepared a variety of cakes, cupcakes and delicious treats following Macmillan Cancer Support’s recipes and we all got involved in fun-filled games.

We all had a wonderful day raising funds for this lovely cause.

Wine not? Residents join virtual tasting

We had a lovely time joining Hospitality Manager, Christophe Noel and special guests Lee Isaacs DipWSET and Nick Parker from Unity Wines and Spirits – as they introduced us to wine tasting techniques, the history of wine and wine making, as well as consumer attitudes.

Our residents had the opportunity to try a variety of wines from sparkling and white to rose and red, alongside a selection of delicious treats.

It was a wonderful experience, enjoyed by all.

Birthday celebrations

Birthdays are an important fixture in our social calendar as we celebrate our residents amazing lives, we’d like to wish Clara a very happy 93 years young!  Clara was delighted to spend time with her daughter, Chris before joining residents and staff for nibbles and fizz. Happy birthday Clara!

A tasty treat with Val's ices

Residents were delighted to see Val’s ices pull up outside the home so that they could indulge in one of their favourite treats.  It is always a hard decision deciding which flavour and topping to have!   Conversation flows as residents share stories from their own childhood when they listened out for the sound of the ice-cream van at the end of their street.

Tea and cake with new friends

Residents of Brookfield love their regular trips to the local Salvation Army community hub, where they enjoy delicious scones and jam with a cup of tea.  This is a firm fixture on the weekly planner and it is a great opportunity for the ladies to catch up with their new found friends.
