Activities at Brookfield Care Home

Our Activities coordinator dedicates her time on getting feedback from our residents of what they like to do. We have introduced paper mornings which involves group discussions and an active mind, and we also have a variety of entertainers that come in on a weekly basis. We hold a residents quiz once a week as it is one of our more popular activities, we now call it the Big Quiz due to its popularity.

It is important that we involve the community and family in many of our activities. We have the local rugby club heritage centre coming in once a week to do Bocci (indoor bowls) and seated exercise. We also hold cheese and wine evenings for family and residents which are very popular. Here at Brookfield we pride ourselves on the fabulous bond our activity coordinator has with all our residents as they are as happy to see her each morning as she is to see her friends.

Life at Brookfield Care Home

Come sing! Feel good!

Our homes have had a fantastic time with vocal coach Mark De-Lisser as he led an amazing virtual singing session for our residents to enjoy. Our residents across our services were able to learn different techniques as they sang the famous ‘I’m a Believer’ by The Monkees. There were smiles and laugher all around. The session was such a success and was great for the mind, body and soul.

Book club corner

Residents across our services had a lovely time joining Daniel Snowman, for an exciting virtual event to discuss his book ‘Just Passing Through’.  Author of over a dozen books, Daniel Snowman’s long and active life has led him to interact in countless ways with the wider world and with some of its most famous inhabitants. His memoir evokes these experiences via a series of vivid literary vignettes.

Residents found the talk very intriguing and informative, and were happy to learn more about Daniel’s experiences around the world.  Book club corner is part of our varied life enrichment programme.

Friends

We took a stroll to Lymm Dam where we fed the cygnets and enjoyed the beautiful landscape together.  Anne, Barbara & Eileen ventured out for the morning with Activities Coordinator Suzanne who said "You just can't beat a lovely sociable morning out to see nature at its best followed by a Coffee stop with good friends"

The Lymm BIG SING Choir

We were thrilled to welcome the Lymm BIG SING choir to our gardens on such a sunny day!

The choir was formed in Spring 2012 to give experienced singers and newcomers the opportunity to sing exciting modern popular music.

The Choir of 44 singers was truly fantastic, everyone thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor Summer concert. "Mr Blue Sky" was particularly appropriate!

Our Sanctuary

We love our regular and wonderful visits to The Sanctuary Café in Lymm.  The cafe was established to provide a Christian Café, bookshop and events centre in the village for the community. We were particularly inspired to learn that aspects of the Café is staffed by dedicated volunteers, largely from local churches. The Coffee is really amazing & we will return regularly!

We also engaged with a mums n tots group at the Cafe this week - "Kingdom Kids"! We all enjoyed joining in singing with the delightful children and collectively agreed it was a beautiful experience.
