Activities at Beaufort Grange Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Lucy Lock
Hello, I am Lucy and I have worked at Beaufort Grange since 2015, starting as a care assistant I have progressed to senior care assistant and now into my role as an Activities Assistant. It's always a pleasure to keep the residents updated with community activities. What I enjoy about my job is making everyone laugh and keeping residents and staff entertained. You will often hear me singing as I walk down the corridor!
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Beaufort Grange Care Home

Emergency Services Day
On Monday, September 9th, we celebrated Emergency Services Day by hosting a free breakfast for all emergency workers at our home. Sam and her team from staple Hill joined us for a chat, coffee, and breakfast roll. We also presented them with goody bags filled with homemade treats to show our appreciation for their hard work. Sam and her team were very grateful for the gesture.
During the event, one of our residents, John, shared a fond memory from his childhood. He reminisced about a time when he went scrumping, which involves stealing fruit from an orchard. John recalled how he was once caught by the police, but his main concern was his mother’s reaction rather than getting in trouble with the authorities.

Summer BBQ
What a fantastic time we had at our summer bash!! Congratulations to Alison for winning the duck, now named Mrs. Quacks. The BBQ made by our catering team was absolutely delicious - BBQ chicken, corn on the cob, hot dogs, and salad, followed by strawberries and cream or ice cream for dessert. Despite the weather forcing us indoors, we still had a blast. The Sundaes from Mini Concerts had us all up and dancing. A big thank you to Avon and Somerset Police and Avon Fire & Rescue Service for stopping by. We had a great time, especially when the firefighters brought out their hose!

National Ice Cream day
We celebrated this National Ice Cream day making Banana Splits which we nicknamed Beauforts Banana Bliss.
Lucy, our Activity Coordinator, dressed up as an Ice Cream Confectioner, donned in her shirts, apron and little bow tie, she got a lot of compliments and laughter from residents and staff, the Bistro was decorated with balloons and foil sweets and donut balloons.
Residents took part in a scooping out ice cream, topping with cream and with a drizzle of chocolate and strawberry sauce, residents said their most favourite part was decorating the sundae with sweets and then eating it.

Armed Forces Day
We had great fun for our Armed Forces Day celebrations. Thank you to Royal British Legion: Stoke Gifford and Patchway District for bringing the memorabilia, which had everyone chatting about and Thank You to Ian Boulton a labour councillor and who is also president of the Royal British Legion but for the Staple Hill district for joining us, chatting to staff and residents and the local PCSO’s for singing and dancing with the residents.
A delicious BBQ provided by the kitchen staff.
And thank you Mini Concerts for letting Nick come join us for some fabulous singing, had everyone dancing along.

Presenting a donation to Bristol Dementia Action Alliance
We got the pleasure of presenting a cheque of £1,000 from Barchester's Charitable Foundation to Tony a chair of Bristol Dementia Action Alliance they will be using this money towards their memory cafes where they get together and just have fun because, a quote from Tony, Laughter is the best medicine.
Tony even got the chance to stop and say hello to his long-time friend Malcom, a resident at Beaufort Grange, the smile on Malcom’s face was something we had to capture, and yes Tony, he still talks about your cake that you made him.

Animal Therapy
What a lovely animal visit we had from Creature Cuddles this month, where we got to meet a range of animals from rabbits, guinea pigs and dogs to a tortoise, bearded dragon and millipedes, each animal had a fuss made over them and even our brave Activity Coordinator Lucy had a try at holding the millipede, she last 5 seconds before giving it back but one of our resident, Julia was very happy to have another cuddle with him.
We always love an animal therapy visit at Beaufort Grange.
