Activities at Badgeworth Court Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators provide a stimulating social programme to suit residents' individual tastes and desires, and offer group or one-to-one activities based on individual preferences. We are a dedicated team that always ensures residents have enough to do to keep them stimulated and entertained. There are regular trips out on the minibus to nearby places of interest, and exercise classes to suit people of all capabilities, in addition to much, much more.

Life at Badgeworth Court Care Home

Making connections in the community

Making connections in the community

We enjoy spending time with our local community and taking the opportunity to spread awareness to the public about dementia and the options that are available. We took to the streets In Cheltenham armed with information booklets and goodies to hand out, the response was fantastic, many people approached us to discuss their loved ones and the options for the next stage in their lives. We invited everyone to our Open day on 20th October to showcase our beautiful home and all that we have to offer.

Open day celebrations

Our open day at Badgeworth court was a huge success, the opening of our brand new vintage tea room enticed our guests into the home. The room was decorated from head to toe in quaint and floral decorations, with fresh flowers on each table and vintage tea cups and saucers. The chef made an exquisite array of miniature cakes including; profiteroles, scones and jam, chocolate brownies and sponge cakes topped with fresh fruit. The live classical music was beautiful to listen to, with a live violinist and pianist playing classics such as ‘Nessun Dorma’ and ‘A nightingale in Barclay square’. We look forward to our next open day on 20th October. Hope to see you all there!

Early risers exercise class with Emily

Early risers exercise class with Emily

Residents were thrilled to see a brand new exercise class added to our weekly activities schedule. Early Risers exercise group was suggested by the residents at their monthly meeting as an addition to our Tai Chi, Mindfulness and Meditation group that occur weekly with ‘Embrace’. Margaret said “Emily is so full of life; she makes exercising fun for my friends and I”

Beatrix potter museum

Beatrix potter museum

We visited the Beatrix Potter Museum with some residents recently. Tucked away in the old back streets near Gloucester Cathedral it brought back a lot of memories for our residents. The museum provides unique gifts and collectibles in a quaint, old world shop with a small museum upstairs. The residents and staff thoroughly enjoyed visiting the shop and some bought gifts home with them. It was a great day out had by all.

Church service

Church service

Every other Wednesday we are lucky enough to have our local church ‘Badgeworth Praise’ come to visit.  Their favorite hymns are heard all the way down corridors as our residents sing to their hearts content. At the end of the service a Holy Communion is offered to everyone especially those prefer to stay in their rooms during the Church service. We enjoy building bonds with our local community at Badgeworth court.

Introducing the new manager to our activities

Introducing the new manager to our activities

Our residents love fresh fruit, so we decided to make our own fruit skewers with melted chocolate outside in the courtyard. Each resident had the choice of strawberries, mango, pineapple and kiwis to slide onto their skewers, they could then drizzle them in milk, white and dark chocolate.  It wasn't long before the fruit and chocolate were gone, with help from our new general manager Xin. It was a nice way to welcome her to Badgeworth Court even if she did get covered in melted chocolate!
