Katie Louise Brown
I began as a care assistant in 2007 at the age of 19. I quickly realised how much I enjoyed and thrived off care home life. I wanted to do a lot more so I began doing my NVQ2 in health and social care and became a senior care assistant I then did my medication training and NVQ3. I worked 8 years as a day member of staff. Then when I became a mum to my two girls I went onto nights where I became a Team Leader.
When I decided I’d like more, Barchester had some wonderful opportunities. I applied for a day position and I’m now a Team Leader at Badgeworth Court Care Centre.
After 13 year’s in the Care Industry I’m so passionate and love what I do. Every day is different with different challenges sometimes sad but majority of the time great fun lots of laughs. I wouldn’t change anything.
I have many years of experience in the care sector. I worked before with the NHS Trust in a hospital environment and as a community nurse.
I am passionate about working with the elderly, supporting their relatives and leading our team members to achieve the highest care standards.
Hi my name is Faye and I am the administrator at Badgeworth Court Care Centre. I have worked here since 2017 and started as a hostess on our De Clare community, working my way up to receptionist and now have been lucky to be offered the position of Administrator for the home. I really enjoyed working as a receptionist and would regularly have a chat and a cup of tea with the residents who came down to see me. Badgeworth Court is a home from home and it is a joy to come to work everyday!
I have recently joined the team at Badgeworth Court as an Admin Assistant. I have worked in Administration for over 12 years and I am really enjoying getting to know the staff and residents here.
I have always been impressed by Badgeworth Court and had previously visited some members of my congregation from St Andrews Church in Churchdown who have been residents here.
I enjoy history and art, and enjoy cooking for my family and friends.
I was born in Hornsey, North London, in 1928, spending the war years in East Anglia, where I found myself surrounded by artists of all ages who were quick to give help and advice.
I came to Cheltenham in 1948 for wider experience. I completed an apprenticeship in 1950 as a sign writer painting the town’s largest sign which stood in Hewlett Road for over 20 years.
I have been married since 1951. I have a daughter, a son, 3 granddaughters, 3 great granddaughters and a great grandson.
I am able to get involved with the home's activities and help the activities team, who do a lot of behind the scenes work.
I have compiled and run quizzes and I hope that continues. I am hoping, in the near future, to hold drawing classes for the residents. There is an artist in each and every one of us; all will be pleasantly surprised at their efforts. and interest will be maintained for everyone. I look forward to the challenge.
My name is Joana Matias and I am from Portugal. I studied social education in Portugal and, following this, worked as an activities coordinator and carer.
I wanted to broaden my horizons, so I came to England. During my first year in England, I worked as a care assistant in the community, and as a support worker, before going on to work as an activities coordinator in another care home.
Here at Badgeworth Court, I organise a variety of activities and social events within the home and in the local community, such as creative gardening, arts and crafts, gentle exercise sessions and singalongs with live singers and musicians, plus much more.
Our team will endeavour to promote residents’ well-being through meaningful activities.
For more information about our activities, or if you would like to join us, please contact one of the team. You will be most welcome!
I am originally from Kent and moved up to Gloucester for university in 2017 and decided to stay.

Alongside all the phone calls and admin work, I spend a lot of time with residents, as anyone is free to come down for a tea, coffee or just a chat; the company is always appreciated.
