Activities at Awel-Y-Mor Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Jo & Julie

Activities Coordinators

Awel-Y-Mor's activities team consists of three Activities Coordinators, each having a specialist unique role within the group, including work in the multi-sensory concept, as well as organising days out, trips to sporting events and pop concerts, and arranging themed days. Jo has been with us for over ten years, beginning her Barchester career as a Carer, and Julie joined us in 2018.

Residents at Awel-Y-Mor thoroughly enjoyed a pottery session which we held at the beginning of April. Julie, a local potter, came to help them make various objects out of clay.

The residents of Awel-Y-Mor enjoyed making their Scrabble montage for the communal areas of the home.

World Book Day

World Book Day

The activity team at Awel-y-Mor held a book discussion with selective residents on World Book Day, held downstairs in the day room. We discussed a number of different authors and genres, from Agatha Christie to fantasy masterpieces such as The Hobbit. This helped the team gain a better understanding of what the residents are interested in and gave them ideas to develop more bespoke activity programmes.

Restaurant Evening

Restaurant Evening

We hosted our annual restaurant evening recently. Residents and their families enjoyed a three course meal, followed by entertainment until late in the evening. Everyone had an amazing time!
