Activities at Austen House Care Home

Here at Austen House, we like to get to know those we support, and from the day of moving in, our activities team will spend time on an individual basis learning about interests, likes and dislikes, life history and favourite hobbies.

We provide a wide range of activities, from one-to-one time, manicures and board games, through to live entertainment, prize bingo and our ever-popular cheese & wine events. Our activities team will also tailor individual activities to ensure residents can have as much or as little involvement as they choose.

In the summer months, greater focus is given to outdoor activities, such as barbecues and garden parties. In conjunction with our Chef, themed events are planned throughout the year, bringing activities and food together.

In their pink polo shirts, our activities team are easily identifiable and embrace ideas and suggestions from residents and their relatives to ensure that the activities provided keep those we support engaged, stimulated and entertained.

Flower arranging Masterclass

With Chelsea flower show this week, We wanted to get involved and had our very own masterclass. Residents enjoyed an afternoon in our lovely garden learning lots about flowers and plants. They all got involved in planting and sprucing up the garden in time for summer.

New Hobbies

Austen House have bought a pool table for residents to enjoy. Its now becoming a firm favourite hobby for everyone. Competitions are now becoming a daily occurrence and showing peoples competitive side.

Pebbles sent with love

Local children dropped off these beautiful pebbles for our residents to put in the garden and when they look at them they will know that everyone is thinking of them.

Community Deliveries of kindness

Staff and residents have been overwhelmed with so many deliveries to make everyone smile and brighten their day. These fabulous bunches of flowers were no exception and were given to residents with love from the local Waitrose store

Building towers

Austen House and Thrive a weekly visiting toddler group are still making sure they interact with each other even though they cant be together at the moment. They have challenged each other to see who can build the highest tower. This one is going to take some beating.

Caring Donations

Staff have been overwhelmed by the kindness of the local community. They have got together and made scrub bags for all the staff to put their uniform in. This will ensure the safe travel of everything needed to care for residents.
