West Oak Care Home in Wokingham

West Oak is a purpose-built home with gardens in a quiet residential area in the market town of Wokingham, Berkshire, set within a quiet housing estate, close to Wokingham town centre. It is nearby to Wokingham train station, and the 190 bus route to Reading. The M4 and M3 motorways are also very easy to access. Wokingham town centre and a small park are a short walk away from the home.

West Oak provides 24-hour nursing care for older people, including people living with dementia, who are supported in a dedicated Memory Lane Community. The purpose-built home is set in pleasant gardens, winning Barchester in Bloom’s  internal competition in 2014 for its sensory garden.

West Oak has an inclusive, family atmosphere. We welcome visitors to the home and residents are encouraged to invite their relatives to join them at any time. We are always here to help.

Types of care

Here at West Oak, we achieved a 'Good' rating in all four categories in our latest CQC inspection, which reflects the quality of care and commitment of our staff, many of whom have been working in the home for over ten years. When you walk around our units, you can't miss the smiling faces and laughter from residents and staff. Our team are naturally caring and work to provide residents with the highest standard of person-centered care. We believe that all residents are individuals, with their own personalities and lifestyles, and see our role as enabling them to maintain their decision-making and independence at all times, and give people the confidence to keep living their own lives with the opportunity to explore new experiences and relive old ones.

Our Team

The dedicated and experienced team are passionate about providing quality care to each individual living at the home.

Geoffrey Honour

General Manager

Hi, my name is Geoffrey, and I am the General Manager here at West Oak Care Home.

I have personally worked in the care sector for over twenty years, initially starting in the mental health & learning disability field, managing & commissioning homes throughout Berkshire & Wiltshire. I then moved on to elderly care in the role of Training Manager, and progressed to running sixty-six bed units in Oxford, Hampshire & Berkshire.

I love working with a very professional team of Nurses, Carers & ancillary staff, who take great pride in their work. It is my goal to ensure that we are delivering a high standard of person-centred care to those we support. Austen House has strong links with the community, which enables residents to not only to engage in, but also be active in local projects.
