West Oak Care Home in Wokingham
West Oak is a purpose-built home with gardens in a quiet residential area in the market town of Wokingham, Berkshire, set within a quiet housing estate, close to Wokingham town centre. It is nearby to Wokingham train station, and the 190 bus route to Reading. The M4 and M3 motorways are also very easy to access. Wokingham town centre and a small park are a short walk away from the home.
West Oak provides 24-hour nursing care for older people, including people living with dementia. The purpose-built home is set in pleasant gardens, winning Barchester in Bloom’s internal competition in 2014 for its sensory garden.
West Oak's dedicated Memory Lane Community provides a safe, homely environment for people living with dementia, which has been designed following these guidelines ensuring the care we provide supports residents’ freedom of choice. We aim to maintain their life-skills, improving their self-esteem and helping them to maintain and develop their independence while they are living with us.
Staff undertake specialist dementia care training developed by our team of Dementia Care Specialists and academic partners, the Centre for Dementia Research at Leeds Beckett University. Together they ensure our training programmes are informed by the very latest thinking. We ensure that the people we support feel comfortable and safe in their surrounding environment, helping ensure they live life with dementia to the full.
Choosing a care home for a loved one or friend who may be experiencing dementia can be difficult and we have created a guide to showcase how we ‘Enrich the lives of people living with dementia’ in our care home.
West Oak has an inclusive, family atmosphere. We welcome visitors to the home and residents are encouraged to invite their relatives to join them at any time. We are always here to help.

Hi, my name is Geoffrey, and I am the General Manager here at West Oak Care Home.
I have personally worked in the care sector for over twenty years, initially starting in the mental health & learning disability field, managing & commissioning homes throughout Berkshire & Wiltshire. I then moved on to elderly care in the role of Training Manager, and progressed to running sixty-six bed units in Oxford, Hampshire & Berkshire.
I love working with a very professional team of Nurses, Carers & ancillary staff, who take great pride in their work. It is my goal to ensure that we are delivering a high standard of person-centred care to those we support. West Oak has strong links with the community, which enables residents to not only to engage in, but also be active in local projects.Get in touch Meet my team
