Activities at Ashlar House Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Valentine's Day

We were joined by vocalist, Debbie Watt, who put on a wonderful performance for residents on Valentine's Day, which was filled with love, laughter and fun. She sang lots of hits from the '50s and '60s, and residents can't wait for her next visit.

Our General Manager, Marie Smale, was stick in traffic due to an accident on the A120, and to combat the boredom, she distributed some heart lollies to fellow drivers and passengers, wishing everyone a happy Valentine's Day.

The highlight of the day was when the lollies made their way to the local nursery school children, who we were visiting on the day.

Let's Talk About Pumpkins

A simple activity themed around a pumpkin lead to a very interesting discussion about its colour, weight, texture and smell.

Ukulele Entertainment

We were joined by a ukulele group on 12th February, who put on a wonderful performance for residents in the Ashlar Day Club.

Sensory Rummage Box

Our highly-attractive, crystal clear sensory liquid set contains colourful mineral oils and water in a range of shapes and designs. When turned upside down, they provide a variety of ways for the droplets to fall or rise. These objects will captivate and fascinate and are an ideal resource for inspiring curiosity, developing creative language and understanding simple scientific principles.
