Paternoster House in Waltham Abbey

Paternoster House is a beautiful care home in Waltham Abbey. Paternoster House offers residential, nursing and dementia care in a relaxed and welcoming setting with a range of lounges and communal areas. We also offer respite care for those who need to stay with us for a shorter visit. We share our site with Jasmine Court Independent Hospital, which provides support for people with mental health needs.

Our accommodation is purpose-built, with extensive grounds framed by woods and open fields in a quiet area of Waltham Abbey. The home boasts a number of courtyard gardens and sheltered areas. Our grounds are regularly visited by the local wildlife, ranging from birds and squirrels to deer.

We have a happy, friendly team of highly qualified and dedicated staff who focus on the individual needs of each resident and will develop a tailored care plan for each person.

Our teams strive to provide everything a resident may need, from our in-house kitchen and dining facilities to activities and excursions to local sites and further afield. More details can be found by looking at the 'Life at Paternoster' and 'Upcoming Events' sections of the website.

The local area offers much of interest, from the Abbey and King Harold's final resting place to the scenic Epping Forest and the pleasures of both the canal and River Lea. We boast a large number of restaurants nearby, with food ranging from 'Pie and Mash' to Cordon Bleu.

We are confident we have much to offer and can help meet your needs. We are always happy to meet with you and offer a guided tour of our facilities and grounds. You are welcome to drop in for a cup of coffee and meet the team.

Types of care

Paternoster House provide nursing care services for frail elderly people in need of support and for individuals living with dementia. It is important to us that our care services are delivered in a way that celebrates each person’s individuality and helps them to maintain as much independence as possible, so we tailor our services to meet the unique needs of each person. This could include personal one-to-one time with staff members when needed, regular visits from a chiropodist or just adhering to special dietary requirements. In our latest CQC inspection we received a ‘Good’ outcome for ‘Caring’.

Simona Ciuperca

General Manager

Hi, my name is Simona and I am the General Manager here at Paternoster House. Welcome to our website!

I first started working in elderly care in 2010. Since then I have evolved and grown within the Care sector because of the genuine passion I have to care for the wonder that it is our elderly generation. They deserve nothing but the best and I believe that it is my responsibility to provide strong and focused leadership to ensure the highest standards of care are delivered at all times.

As someone who likes to be challenged and has a proven aptitude for providing a high level of professional care with a truly resident-focused approach, I am now excited to have the opportunity to utilise my management expertise and significant nursing skills to ensure our residents enjoy the best possible lifestyle.

I feel very passionate about being part of the Barchester family, bringing so much joy and happiness to our residents’ lives and I am proud that we are able to make such a difference in crucial moments of an individual’s journey.

I will always welcome and encourage involvement in our home from the friends and family of our residents, so please contact me at any time to discuss any suggestions you may have.
