Paternoster House in Waltham Abbey

Paternoster House is a specialist nursing home supporting people in need of nursing and dementia care in a warm and friendly environment.  We also share our site with Jasmine Court Independent Hospital, which provides support for people with mental health needs.

Our accommodation is purpose-built, with extensive grounds framed by woods and open fields in a quiet area of Waltham Abbey.  The home boasts a number of courtyard gardens and sheltered areas.  Our grounds are regularly visited by the local wildlife, ranging from birds and squirrels to deer.

We have a happy, friendly team of highly qualified and dedicated staff who focus on the individual needs of each resident and will develop a tailored care plan for each person.

Our teams strive to provide everything a resident may need, from our in-house kitchen and dining facilities to activities and excursions to local sites and further afield.  More details can be found by looking at the 'Life at Paternoster' and 'Upcoming Events' sections of the website.

The local area offers much of interest, from the Abbey and King Harold's final resting place to the scenic Epping Forest and the pleasures of both the canal and River Lea.  We boast a large number of restaurants nearby, with food ranging from 'Pie and Mash' to Cordon Bleu.

We are confident we have much to offer and can help meet your needs.  We are always happy to meet with you and offer a guided tour of our facilities and grounds.  You are welcome to drop in for a cup of coffee and meet the team.

David Chimhini

General Manager

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Paternoster House - our friendly, vibrant home in Waltham Abbey, Essex.  My Name is David Chimhini and I am the General Manager here.

Paternoster House is located within five acres of land and surrounded by woods and an orchard on the edge of Waltham Abbey; an historic market town on the River Lea.

Paternoster House makes the most of pleasant grounds and a versatile interior to provide top quality general, end of life nursing, residential care as well as expert care for those living with dementia on our memory lane units.

As a general manager my role is to ensure that the high standards the organisation set are up-hold at all times and that residents live a happier, healthier and fulfilling life.

I have worked in the care sector for over 15 years. Briefly worked as a nurse and moved into management in 2000. I have enjoyed a successful career to date and remain passionate about providing quality care to those under our care. Over the years I have gained MBA, MA HRM and CMgr respectively which have helped to increase my knowledge and ability to achieve desired results with a decisive leadership and management style.

Our care

Paternoster House provide nursing care services for frail elderly people in need of support and for individuals living with dementia. It is important to us that our care services are delivered in a way that celebrates each person’s individuality and helps them to maintain as much independence as possible, so we tailor our services to meet the unique needs of each person. This could include personal one-to-one time with staff members when needed, regular visits from a chiropodist or just adhering to special dietary requirements. In our latest CQC inspection we received a ‘Good’ outcome for ‘Caring’.
