Activities at Archview Lodge Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Diane Wood

Head of Activities

Hi, my name is Diane and  I am Head of Activities here at Archview.  I have worked in the homes since 2009.

I strongly believe in creating moments for our residents and embracing their individuality with tailor made activities, whilst remaining person centred and respecting resident’s preferences. Every day I like to ensure the residents on memory lane can enjoy themselves and have a good time whilst forming bonds with each other and the staff around them.

Outside of work,  I have a 23 years old son and a wee dog called Hugo and my ambition is to make people smile and be happy.

Truffle Trouble

Residents enjoyed making truffles recently. The also enjoyed eating them!

Happy New Year

Happy New Year from everyone here at Archview Lodge!

Ladies Lunch

Some of our ladies enjoyed a delicious lunch at their favourite local pub. The winning pub which was selected by our ladies and choosing from the menu was a difficult choice for all, with a vast selection of choices on offer, but once the food came it certainly lived up to its reputation.

As they patiently waited for its arrival conversation flowed reminiscing of their younger days over a glass of wine.

As the afternoon drew to a close there was no need to call a taxi as their private mini-bus was already in the carpark! A wonderful afternoon was had by all.

One Voice Choir

Residents and neighbours from the community recently came together to raise the roof with a sing-a-long as they helped the home celebrate 9 years of their ‘One voice choir’. Everyone came together an afternoon of song with a few solo performances and it was a fun-filled afternoon for everyone and we’d like to thank everyone who came along and supported us.

General Manager, May McCondichie said “Our residents and staff have been singing together for a while now and we were keen to extend the opportunity to the wider community, it’s been a fabulous afternoon welcoming so many members of the community to join us and I think we’ve all been pretty impressed by how much fun it was and how good we sounded together”

Lunch at Justinlees Pub

The ladies had lunch with friends at local pub. Everyone enjoyed a nice meal and a glass of wine.

Ratho Barge

We had a lovely trip to the union canal at Ratho Barge. We sailed down the tranquil canal and enjoyed this relaxed outing.
