Activities at Alice Grange Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Penny Allen

Lead Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Penny and I am the Lead Activities Coordinator here at Alice Grange.

I have many years of experience working in care homes in Activities, leisure and lifestyle roles.

I love being part of the Alice Grange team and supporting our residents to live their best lives with fun, interesting, and varied activities available every week. I always feel that the residents' input into our weekly planner is important as it gives all residents equal opportunity to explore new interests as well as keeping up with previous passions and hobbies.

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas!

So the festive season approaches and the sounds of choirs, bells and Christmas songs fill the hallways.

The Christmas decorations have started going up and Alice Grange is starting to look very merry indeed, although we still have plenty of decorations and Christmas lights still to put up, and our light switch on has yet to occur.

Our Christmas calendar is full of exciting and unique activities including plays, recitals and even a behind-the-scenes tour of Blenheim Palace!

New Interactive Table

Our brand new interactive table has arrived. The residents at Alice Grange have been looking forward to this arriving since we had a trial day and ordered it some months ago.   We will be able to use the table for watching Youtube performances, attending classes via Zoom, playing brain teaser games and having sensory experiences.   So far we have nearly thirty apps downloaded onto the table, and we are still exploring and finding out which other ones our residents want. The table will get great use from all of our residents.

Play Your Cards Right

Residents have enjoyed some great games of Play Your Cards Right this week, with staff doing their very best Bruce Forsyth impressions.

Some residents saw their competitive sides creep out during the games whilst others were happy to relax, watch and enjoy some scrumptious cakes made by our talented chef and his team.

Remembrance Day

At the 11th Hour, on the 11th Day of the 11th Month we held our silence to remember those who fell in conflict.

Our residents have marked Remembrance Day through a variety of Poppy related activities and a service led by our resident Richard who has put his 70 years of preaching to good use.

90th Birthday, Chess And Cake!

A big birthday needs a big cake, a big card and a big game of chess with a friend (and more cakes)!

The team at Alice Grange always ensure that no birthday goes uncelebrated. Whether a resident wants a quiet evening with their friends and a favourite meal, a big cake or Happy Hour in the main lounge, our staff will ensure they get what they deserve and feel special.

Halloween at Alice Grange

Halloween at Alice Grange and the smell of pumpkin spice was in the air!

Residents and staff got into the spirit with traditional pumpkin carving and decorating the home. Plenty of Halloween inspired sweets and activities were enjoyed by all.
