Activities at Alice Grange Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Penny Allen
Hi, my name is Penny and I am the Lead Activities Coordinator here at Alice Grange.
I have many years of experience working in care homes in Activities, leisure and lifestyle roles.
I love being part of the Alice Grange team and supporting our residents to live their best lives with fun, interesting, and varied activities available every week. I always feel that the residents' input into our weekly planner is important as it gives all residents equal opportunity to explore new interests as well as keeping up with previous passions and hobbies.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Vineyard visit and tour
This year, English Wine Week takes place from June 15th to 23rd and is being celebrated by wine enthusiasts from all over the country.
Whether you love a glass of fizz, a nice dry white, a delicate rosé, a juicy red or all of the above, English Wine Week is the perfect excuse to immerse yourself in the wonderful world of English wines. It is no longer unusual to see fields of vines in England or to find English brands on the wine list in restaurants, English wines are now a force to be reckoned with.
To mark the occasion, residents had so much fun taking part in a visit to Shawsgate Vineyard and Winery taking in a tour, and some wine-tasting masterclass led by Katie where they found out about all the different styles of English wines, discovering how English winemaking first started and how much it has grown. Coinciding this with Suffolk Day was such a treat to sample English wines all being produced just outside the market town of Framlingham
Penny Allen Lead Activities Coordinator at Alice Grange Care Home said: “We have all learned so much this week about English wines, how they are made, and all the different styles, we had no idea there were so many different types of grapes being grown in this country, let alone only a few miles from Ipswich. Our residents really enjoyed their tasting session and their guided tour of the vineyard.
David, our Deputy Resident Ambassador at Alice Grange commented: “I love a glass of wine, there really isn’t anything better. I really enjoyed trying some different styles, I had no idea just how many vineyards there are in England now. It was hard to choose my favourite wine as all were very palatable !”

Pictures that mean something
Working with Margaret’s family to gather pictures from the past then spending time with Margaret to make this delightful memory for her that now is framed and on her wall.
That Smile from Margaret from Memory Lane just says it all, she was so proud of her pictures from the past and adding quotes in her own words.

“Arriba Arriba … Andale Andale “ Mexican Culture Day
We celebrated in style with Mexican cuisine games and live entertainment, staff, residents and visitors donned sombreros and ponchos as we danced laughed and had a jam-packed day of fun and activities.
Where will our next adventure of around the world take us?

Out and about on our minibus to Christchurch Park and Mansion.
What a beautiful day to head on the mini bus to Christchurch Park and Mansion. Christchurch Mansion was built by Edmund Withpoll around 1548-1550.
We spent time in the Mansion before a well-deserved cup of tea, followed by a picnic in the park and of course ice cream.
Rose one of our residents who is not familiar with the area was delighted by the day, Rose’s family were so pleased that we were able to get Rose to go out.
Her Niece Amanda said “We have been trying to get her to go to all kinds of places and the answer is always no so thank you so much”.
Sybil another of our residents who knew a lot about the history took pleasure in sharing her knowledge.

Espoire School of dance
Staff and residents at Alice Grange were delighted to have Espoir School of Dance come to visit.
Many of our residents come from a background of music and dance and asked if it were possible to see some of the talented dancers out there.
Head of Activities Penny Allen got in touch with the local dance school and asked Principle Chloe Giles if she would be able to comply something for our residents to watch in the comfort of their home
We had 5 delightful young dancers who performed beautifully. All danced a series of solos, demonstrating a high level of technique and bringing a smile to all the resident's faces.
General Manager, Raciel Sagun said: “What an absolute delight to see these youngsters dance for us, I very much like dancing myself but it was an absolute pleasure to see these lovely young ladies performing their solo dance routines.
Margaret Batten, a resident said: “ When I first came to Alice Grange I was asked what type of thing I liked to do one of the things that I said I would like to see were ballerinas, I was delighted to see this it brought a tear to my eye”
