Activities at Adlington Manor Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Activities Coordinator

I joined the activities team at Adlington Manor in May 2017. Previously, I have worked as a tree surgeon and have had heavy involvement with the Guides and Brownies. I love participating in activities with residents, whether that's by driving the minibus on trips outside the home, or by engaging in themed days.

I am passionate about my role and especially the challenge of coming up with new ways to engage as many residents as possible in our activities here.

An Afternoon in the Sunshine

We went to the Woodford Garden Centre and had a great afternoon in the sunshine looking at plants for our garden and enjoying a cream scone in the cafe.

Poppy the Horse

We were honoured yesterday to receive a visit from Poppy. She came and enjoyed some carrots and a fuss from residents.

A big thanks to our carer, Kate, for bringing her in.

The Manor's Musical Delight

We all enjoyed the beautiful singing of Deborah. She got all the residents singing along and waving flags when she visited last week. We look forward to seeing Deborah again soon!

Queen's Birthday Celebrations at Adlington

We celebrated the Queen's official 90th birthday with a tea party in the sunshine, lots of cakes, tea, music and a Royal quiz, which all made the afternoon a pleasurable one!

A Cruise Across the Canal

Last week was our first canal boat trip of the year on the Mary Sunley. We had fantastic weather and enjoyed a picnic on board, taking in the beautiful Cheshire countryside as we cruised from Poynton Marina up to Marple and back again.

Employee of the Month - March

Carol Shaw is our employee of the month at Adlington Manor. There were many nominations for Carol who has supported the residents with her wonderful care and skills.

Carol has worked here since 1998 and this her last month as a registered nurse before she retires. However, we are not losing Carol’s wonderful skills and compassion. She has chosen to work as a Senior carer until her next retirement, ensuring that the residents and staff benefit for her excellent care.
