Activities at Adlington Manor Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Lynne Bowler

Activities Coordinator

I joined the activities team at Adlington Manor in May 2017. Previously, I have worked as a tree surgeon and have had heavy involvement with the Guides and Brownies. I love participating in activities with residents, whether that's by driving the minibus on trips outside the home, or by engaging in themed days.

I am passionate about my role and especially the challenge of coming up with new ways to engage as many residents as possible in our activities here.

Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day

Adlington Manor honoured residents and their contribution to the country on Remembrance Day. Some residents told stories and showed us photographs, and our wonderful builders, Seddons, provided the fantastic wreath. We all congregated around our wall of remembrance for a 2 minutes silence, with the last posts sounding at 11:02.

Wear it Pink!

Wear it Pink!

Chef, Mike, produced a wonderful cake for morning coffee to support Breast Cancer Awareness Day – the home was a vision in pink. Seddons, who are undertaking our WOW refurbishment, also supported the fundraising by donating money.

30th Anniversary

30th Anniversary

To celebrate our 30th Anniversary, we held a small celebration and our Chef created a 1980s-themed buffet which was thoroughly enjoyed by all!

As part of birthday the celebrations, we also held a balloon race. Everyone bought a ticket and the proceeds will be split between the Barchester Charitable Foundation and the Alzheimer's Society.

We are one of the first care homes to receive a new dementia care accreditation!

We are one of the first care homes to receive a new dementia care accreditation!

Adlington Manor has achieved accreditation for a new standard of dementia care after taking part in a 10 month pilot trialling a new programme developed by dementia care specialists at Barchester Healthcare.

The 10-60-6 dementia programme will replace Barchester's current dementia care programme in order to ensure that the care services provided by our Memory Lane communities for people living with dementia are the best in the sector.

A certificate and trophy were presented to us at a celebratory lunch on 15th August. The presentations were opened by Martin Green who is the Chief Executive of Care England, the largest representative body for independent social care services in the UK.

Virtual Trip to the Seaside

Virtual Trip to the Seaside

We had a pretend day at the seaside here at Adlington Manor; true to form, the weather let us down, but that didn't stop anyone from having a good time.
