Activities at Adlington Manor Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Lynne Bowler

Activities Coordinator

I joined the activities team at Adlington Manor in May 2017. Previously, I have worked as a tree surgeon and have had heavy involvement with the Guides and Brownies. I love participating in activities with residents, whether that's by driving the minibus on trips outside the home, or by engaging in themed days.

I am passionate about my role and especially the challenge of coming up with new ways to engage as many residents as possible in our activities here.

Life at Adlington Manor Care Home

Father Christmas

Father Christmas has come to visit – and he had as cleverly grown his beard over his mask!  Father Chrisman’s also delivered greetings from Buckingham Palace as our residents had sent her majesty Christmas Greetings. Santa gave out the presents before continuing his journey and everyone at the home would like to wish everyone a happy and safe Christmas.

'Tis the season to be jolly!

Residents of Adlington Manor are all ready for Christmas, the stockings are hanging around the fireplace in anticipation of Santa arriving and everyone is in the festive spirit. Residents have made their colourful stockings and are delighted with the finished results.  Once hung, residents sat down to enjoy delicious homemade mince pies and a glass of their favourite tipple, sherry especially prepared by the homes hospitality team.

National Elf Day

Here at Adlington Manor our Elves were hard at work for National Elf Day. The day consisted of Elf games, Elf bingo and Elf dancing, all followed by a glass of mulled wine, a mince pie and a Christmas movie. It was a fun-filled day for everyone as residents countdown to Christmas.

Creating snowflakes

Residents at Adlington Manor rolled up their sleeves and got into the Christmas spirit with decorating and making snowflakes during their popular arts and crafts session.   With a sprinkling of glitters these beautiful snowflakes can be seen on display throughout the home and a specially created window display.

Arts and crafts is one of the many activities the home provides as part of the life enrichment programme and is very popular as Residents love showing their creative sides during each session.

Home honour the fallen

Adlington Manor commemorated Remembrance Day where they joined the rest of the United Kingdom in holding a two-minute silence at 11am.   As well as marking Remembrance Day by wearing poppies and watching the televised service.

BHC Care Awards - National Winner!

The Barchester Care Awards this year were a little different and were held virtually due to the global pandemic allowing all homes to join the ceremony from the comfort of their own homes as individuals were recognised for their contribution.  Residents and colleagues at Adlington Manor were delighted when the North Divisional Winner for the prestigious award - General Manager of the Year - was named overall National Winner.  Well done Fiona the home are immensely proud!
