Activities at Worplesdon View Care Home

Activities at Worplesdon View

The activities team at Worplesdon View organise and run activities and events for large groups, small groups and individual residents. We include relatives, volunteers and the remaining staff whenever possible and encourage choice and participation from everyone we support. Our programme is planned in advance and is is designed provide tailored, meaningful activities for residents to participate in that will stimulate all senses, whist encouraging mental and physical well-being. We have an activity plan for all residents, and of course, this changes with the needs of each person to keep it up-to-date and useful. Worplesdon View is a fun and dynamic place to live and work, and the secret to this is that everyone is encouraged to see activities as part of their role in the home so that residents are happy and always have something to do.

Life at Worplesdon View Care Home

Cathedral Coffee Concert

Our monthly visit to Guildford Cathedral was a roaring success! We enjoyed a cellist and pianist duo for a morning of tranquil culture. This event is greatly treasured by our residents as a chance to reflect and wind down, accompanied by coffee and biscuits! We look forward to returning many times in the future to these daytime concerts, as our waiting list for this popular trip is growing!

Garden Party

We had a lovely afternoon with a garden party in our sun hats to welcomed local MP Angela Richardson to our newly renovated home.

The brilliant Daniel Brewerton kept us dancing with his fabulous Rat Pack set; and our amazing catering team created a delicious homemade afternoon tea, which was a real treat! What a lovely way to welcome in the summer! If you haven't seen Worplesdon View since our makeover, make sure you pop in for a cuppa soon!

Bowling Fun

Residents enjoyed a trip to our local leisure centre for some Ten Pin Bowling and what a fun experience had by all.

Some strikes and half strikes for everyone and some pins that just wouldn’t go down no matter how hard we tried!

It was great to see the excitement throughout the session, and we hope to return soon for some more games

Cathedral and Knife Angel

A wonderful morning spent with some residents visiting the Guildford Cathedral for March’s Coffee Concert with Marcus McDevitt, Guildford Cathedral Organ Scholar. A beautiful performance enjoyed by the residents and lots of other visitors.

We even got to see the Knife Angel sculpture while it is on display at the Cathedral. It is made of 100,000 confiscated knives from 43 Police Forces across the UK.

The sculpture is touring towns and cities raising awareness of the issues related to knife crime along with violence and aggression. It was brilliant for us to see it while we visited.

Creative Coaster Making

Residents enjoyed getting creative with the help of J's Occasions by making their very own coasters.

The variety of designs and styles were lovely giving everyone a choice of what they liked. It was great to learn the techniques with a range of different tools for a change. Both sessions created some really positive interactions and physical involvement.

We would like to thank both Jason & Elaine for the brilliant sessions enjoyed by many residents.

Celebrating Love

Love is all we need and this helped us create a display centred around “love” to highlight Valentine’s Day. We created it with the help and support of family and friends by sharing pictures that draw attention to all kinds of love. We have shared pictures from partner love, family love, pet love through to just companionship.

As we all experience our own journeys of love with our partners, siblings, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, pets and/or good friends we get to learn more about the love around us and what keeps each and every one of us going through the good and especially the more challenging times!
