Activities at Worplesdon View Care Home

Activities at Worplesdon View

The activities team at Worplesdon View organise and run activities and events for large groups, small groups and individual residents. We include relatives, volunteers and the remaining staff whenever possible and encourage choice and participation from everyone we support. Our programme is planned in advance and is is designed provide tailored, meaningful activities for residents to participate in that will stimulate all senses, whist encouraging mental and physical well-being. We have an activity plan for all residents, and of course, this changes with the needs of each person to keep it up-to-date and useful. Worplesdon View is a fun and dynamic place to live and work, and the secret to this is that everyone is encouraged to see activities as part of their role in the home so that residents are happy and always have something to do.

Life at Worplesdon View Care Home

Nerf Gun Deer Hunt

Word of our festive activities seems to be spreading far and wide! Our deer hunt got a shout out on the Zoe Ball Breakfast show! Turns out our residents are keen marksmen! Thank you to all the Worplesdon View staff that were willing and enthusiastic reindeer, and thank you to our residents who always give us so much joy and fun! Merry Christmas everyone!

Dickensian Photoshoot

What a gorgeous bunch of residents and relatives we have! We hired Victorian costumes from our local council – Surrey County Arts, and had so much fun with our very own pro photographer – Piotr. We gifted the photos back to our residents and their families as the perfect festive keepsake, helping them make and hold on to these precious memories.

Mr Kipling - Donkey in the Home!

Here we have just a few snaps of our festive friend, Mr Kipling, from Pony Pals, who came to visit us in December. We love having animals in, as they can visit everyone in their rooms too, and Mr Kipling's fuzzy face was a welcome visitor on every floor! We look forward to seeing you again!

Remembrance Sunday

We were so pleased to be able to pay our respects at Guildford Cathedral on Remembrance Sunday. A beautiful service, and we couldn't have gotten there without the help of Fairwood Helpers (www.fairwoodhelpers.com), a fantastic local charity that helps people with transport, and lots of other helpful tasks with their fleet of excellent volunteers! Thank you so much for helping! We appreciate it so much!

The Heart of our Home

The kitchen is often described as the 'heart of a home' but for us, it's our bistro. It has become a real hub of activity, and therefore we love to decorate it each month. This month, obviously remembrance is at the forefront of our minds, so we crafted our own poppy wreathes. We know this will spark conversations as people drink their coffee, we have a lot to be grateful for, and sometimes stopping to appreciate all we have is a very important activity in itself.

Bonfire Night

Thank you so much to Betty and her family for sharing these wonderful pictures of our Fireworks Party (ours weren’t nearly as good). We had great fun watching our own mini display, playing (safely) with sparklers and toasting marshmallows. Thank you all for a wonderful turn out and we’re already planning next year!
