Activities at Worplesdon View Care Home

Activities at Worplesdon View

The activities team at Worplesdon View organise and run activities and events for large groups, small groups and individual residents. We include relatives, volunteers and the remaining staff whenever possible and encourage choice and participation from everyone we support. Our programme is planned in advance and is is designed provide tailored, meaningful activities for residents to participate in that will stimulate all senses, whist encouraging mental and physical well-being. We have an activity plan for all residents, and of course, this changes with the needs of each person to keep it up-to-date and useful. Worplesdon View is a fun and dynamic place to live and work, and the secret to this is that everyone is encouraged to see activities as part of their role in the home so that residents are happy and always have something to do.

Life at Worplesdon View Care Home

A day at the races!

Aaannnddd we're off!

We had great fun joining teams to compete against each other with some very dashing race horses! However, Team One in particular would like a rematch! We also realised some of our residents are very lucky when it comes to rolling sixes! Trip to Vegas anyone?

Thanks to Send Village Club - Send Social & ExServicemens for the loan! We're eager to have the horses back again!

Chris and Julie’s Joint (almost) Birthday!

Sometimes you get the opportunity to do something really special for your residents, and Julie and Chris's (almost) joint birthday was just that!

We planned (with some help from Chris) a lovely, family garden party with a birthday tea fit for a king (thanks to our amazing catering team!). And it wouldn't be a birthday party without a cake, chocolate was voted the firm favourite, we're just sorry the wind blew the candles out before you could! Julie still got the pose down though!

Happy Birthday Julie and Chris, and thank you to your family and everyone who made this joyful afternoon possible, we hope you had the best time!

Plenty of fun with Pet Therapy!

We had a lovely time with The Pony Pals Family! We were enchanted by fluffy rabbits, scruffy guinea pigs and some very calm birds!

This is such a treat for us and our families - as you can tell from Olive’s smile! We find animals are really beneficial to the wellbeing of our residents and indeed our staff, stroking animals can help calm us and increase oxytocin (the happy hormone), so we best get cuddling!

Thank you from all of us to Caroline and her wonderful team! We can't wait til next time!

Wimbledon Wonders!

Tennis fever hit Worplesdon View this month, and what a finale! We started the day by making decorations and cutting strawberries ready to serve with cream (are you team with or without sugar?). Next, we were wondering if we could get dinner served in the lounge, as no one wanted to tear their eyes away from the thrilling match that was Djokovic vs Alcaraz, we were ecstatic the plucky newcomer got it! We even had Spanish flags to wave!

Here we have Kath making sure her ride is Wimbledon ready, and looking great!

Birthday, birthday, birthday!

We are thinking of renaming June – ‘Birthday Month’ we’ve had 11! It’s been great fun celebrating – but we may need more walks in the garden to work off all the cake!

Here we have our wonderful Cathy pictured with her daughter - Cathie! What a beautiful celebration, and a truly marvellous cake (thanks chef!)

We're honoured to share in our residents' precious moments and love making the extra effort to make their birthdays truly special! We’re looking ahead to next month to continuing our birthday bonanza! If you want to do something extra special for your relative, drop the Activity team a message so we can help you make it the best day!

Coronation Big Lunch

To celebrate the coronation of our new King, we decided to host a big picnic in our gardens, as we all love live music at Worplesdon View, we booked a roaming duo – with guitarist Nev and singer Clare! They serenaded our guests as they tucked into this gorgeous cake, which was provided by a very generous resident’s family! And we have to say, it tasted as good as it looked!
